I'm shocked the first Bruins goal got overturned tonight, especially given how any contact with the goaler, no matter the circumstance, seems to result in no goal

It is such a subjective call, even when the refs watch it on replay that I doubt a person in here would not say that call (or non call if applicable) drives them insane!

It's just crazy, its equivalent to what is and isn't a catch in football. I'm not sure there's a way to correct it either!

The #NJDevils have acquired defenseman Sami Vatanen and a conditional third-round pick from Anaheim. New Jersey sends forwards Adam Henrique, Joseph Blandisi and a 2018 third-round pick to the Ducks.

Take note Flyers. You ARE allowed to do something. Anything.............

Uh, interesting. Vatanen has been in trade talks for what feels like a decade.

Good trade. NJ really needed to address their defense, and the Ducks pick up a versatile young piece in Henrique, which they're needing as Getzlaf, Perry, and Kesler get older.

Their passion is great and I am all for attracting new fans but I wish they'd put in a little effort to learn the game. I know many people do not grow up playing or watching hockey but when it finally hits you how enjoyable it is to watch I wish they'd spend a bit more time understanding the game because sometimes they just come off like a friend of mine who thinks every time one of his QB's passes is batted away it should be pass interference or any time one of his players slides they are always safe.

Take a peek at this video, I know Kane's retaliatory slash was dumb but why was he fined and Richie was not considering it was Richie who initially slashed Kane leading to the retaliation? Why not fine both?

I think the difference is Kane responded with a two handed baseball swing. Both are slashes and should have resulted in minors but Richie's slash happens in every game, while Kane's doesn't.

Cam Talbot out a minimum of two weeks, and likely longer with 'UBI'. Thus closing the door on an glimmer of playoff hope that was left.

Because Richie's was, at worst, a 2-minute minor. Kane retaliated and took a full-on two-handed baseball swing. They're really not the same degree of slash at all.

Yea, that’s what real fans do...learn the game.

They’re in love with themselves and haven’t won anything, which is the worst combination ever. Pretty sure the Golden Knights already have a more knowledgeable fan base compared to Nashville.

Nashville fans go for the party and are enthusiastic... so kinda like a DMB show.

Oy Jamie, your bias is shining through. Just because someone initiates something doesn't mean they are responsible for what the other party does.

Well, in fairnes to Kane I think most of us would react the same way. Someone smacks me with a stick and I am going to do the same damn thing - it is simply sticking up for yourself like a pitcher beaning someone after one of his guys got drilled.

So, should every guy who slashes someone in a game get a fine? Or only if the person they slash does something worse?

Perhaps but while I very rarely took penalties if someone smacked me I would do the same to them. It is a contact sport so retaliation happens. Yeah, Kane probably should have just skated to the bench and let someone else (maybe Bouma or Hayden) flatten Ritchie with a vicious check but I can understand 100% why Kane would be pissed off enough to do that.

No, but both of those were both intentional and obvious, hence why I asked why one guy got a fine while the instigator did not. That said 5k hardly makes a dent in Kane's account so I doubt he even cares, if the NHL wanted to make a point a suspension would have been more appropriate so I think the NHL gets why Kane did it as well.

If you're not seeing the difference between the two slashes then I don't know what to tell you.

Of course I can see the difference Sarah, I am not blind! :lol

That said Ritchie's looked intentional as well though not baseball style.

I am not defending Kane's slash, I am only telling you that having played for years I can understand why he reacted like that.
