a coach should be able to use the timeout at his disposal. otherwise, what's the point?

also, if a coach thinks his players are too tired to be on the ice without a breather, that is often when guys get injured.

Yeah, if they disallow this every team is just going to start defenders or wings lining up for the faceoff knowing they are supposed to jump the gun and get tossed out of the circle to buy the team an extra say 20+ seconds to line up the center.

Re: The NHL Thread (lolcaps)

I hope coaches start using their timeouts more just out of protest. Timeouts are rarely called as it is. If I'm a coach, I'm using my timeout every single game from here on out. And at the most inconvenient times possible.

Hey Matty, remember when you said the Caps have the deepest blue line after the Shartenkirk trade? Pretty sure that's no longer true:

Like, my god. I'm more excited looking at that tweet than the snap my girlfriend sent me last night.

Geno showed a lot of heart and character again tonight. When he calls himself out he is amazing. Pretty sure if he was born in canada people would be talking about his intangibles and leadership.

At least the Wings are listening and losing. A the same time it's sad how so many guys seem to be giving up though. They are smarter than this. I've said it 1000x though it starts with that defense they are so bad and not just defensively they can't get the puck out of the zone. At this rate I'd give Shats $10mil a year to come here. They need get so much help there. Chris what would that defenseman you mentioned a few weeks ago cost? My understanding the Hawks probably won't be able to protect him.

and by good scrap, I mean like that time Ray Emery completely demolished Brayden Holtby in a fight.

It really irks me that those banners are not organized properly by year

Timing is great too, with Darling out for another 2 weeks it is great to be able to trot out 2 shut down pairings and one pairing that would likely be a number 2 pairing on most teams. Crawford is prone to the occasional soft goal or brain fart so having those guys to protect him will help, will also be a boost for Jeff Glass because he will likely get a start or 2 in net to keep Crawford fresh and starting his first NHL games having those guys protecting him will be a nice help.

I was curious about the reasoning behind the placing myself, there is no logic to it.

Matty - I think the Av's are going to end up deciding the seeding in the central. They might be all but mathematically eliminated from the race but with 2 games each against CHI, MIN and STL they are in a position to play spoiler or helper to one of those teams - honestly I think CHI and MIN are 1 and 2 in the division (would not wager a bet on who ends up on top but it will be close) while STL and NSH will likely be a coin flip for slot number 3 (whomever does not get it probably gets a WC slot) so the Av's can make or break a teams seed.

1 - :lol :lol

2 - I think that was just for the banner raising ceremony. Pretty sure they're organized by year now. I think they wanted it to be in the middle for that night, but then reorganized them after the game? Idk. It was the only one I could find that included 2015. You can see them organized by year here (sans 2015):

the Jets are approaching old school Philly/CBJ territory with their dirtiness

very unlikable team

which is a shame, because i love that place as a hockey city.
