BTW, can someone please tell me where Jamie Benn is ranked in terms of faceoffs won this season?

Regarding Benn - middle of the road, pretty sure he has not lost or won many! :lol

Something different for you all. If you could pick one player who was on your team but they could not resign due to cap constraints who would it be?

Not sure for me but I am thinking maybe Ladd, Shaw or Teravainen.

This post made me look up the complete roster for the NY Rangers...which pointed me towards their date-of-births....which made me realize that there are only 4 players on the NY Rangers who are older than me....

Now I am sad.

Edit: There are seven on the Hawks that are older.

so you mean who does everyone want to cut form their team basically?

for me, Eric Fehr or Derrick Pouliot

i like Fehr, nothing against him, but he doesn't fit the system. and Pouliot is a joke at this point

I read it as if you could get back one player that left because of the cap, who would it be. Since he listed 3 players that are gone from the Hawks.

ahhh ok that makes more sense

i guess i'd have to say Marian Hossa, even though that was an eternity ago. He'd be lighting it up with Geno or Sid for sure. But i'm glad we have Kessel.

and there's no one recently because the Pens brought back their entire Cup roster sans Lovejoy and Bennett :lol

Yeah, that is exactly what I meant - guess I phrased it wrong or incorrectly. Regarding Teravainen not sure that was a cap issue as much as it was they needed to throw someone in to move Bickell.

Oh! I read that incorrectly too!

For me it would be:

Anton Stralman, Brian Boyle, Carl Hagelin or Ryan Callahan.

If I had to pick one: Anton Stralman. Last year I would have said Hag's because we lost a lot of speed by not signing him. However, we gained a lot of speed back this season!

Brandon Saad, Brandon Saad, and Brandon Saad.

Byfuglien in a distant 2nd, but definitely 2nd.

Hossa is probably mine for the Wings and that was almost an eternity ago. Wings haven't really lost any guys on D that I'd say god they have to have him back. Because D is where they are so bad off. Hossa because Franzen being hurt the last few years and Hossa's still going. Of course didn't know that back in 09.

Is Jagr too far removed? Or perhaps Max Talbot, but that one might be overt sentimentality..

Agreed on Saad - guess it kind of ticked me off that a month after winning the cup he bolted for more money without giving Chicago much time to work with him. I do not blame him for wanting to get paid but the timing and his agent barely talking to the Hawks pissed me off.

Yeah, Byfuglien would have been a nice keep as well but after the 2010 season a LOT had to change for the Hawks and he and Ladd were the big chips on the chopping block.

For both of you who mentioned Hossa - may I say thank your teams (3 cups later) for not keeping him! :)

Course not, I am not saying to pick someone who would be a nice guy to have on your team TODAY but who may have impacted your team in past seasons. Queue every Oilers fan to point out the Gretzky trade because Pocklington needed money! :lol

Honestly, I'd take him in either scenario.

yea he's missed some time recently but when he plays full season, he just quietly puts up 25-40 goals on the reg

First - that's not really what happened. Bowman had to make the move due. Columbus had the offer on the table and Bowman had to pull the trigger. I don't remember the exact RFA implications in regards to timing, but I know they were on the clock. Couldn't really be a wait and see thing.

And for Big Buff - wasn't that the point of your question though? They had to change after 2010 because of the salary cap, and I wish they didn't have to lose him for that reason...
