Everyone does realize D2 was far superior to the original, right?

Re: The NHL Thread
You don't say or do many wrong things, Barbs. But you did here. This will take me a long time to get over. I just need time.

They are about even for me. I've never seen D3, and I don't plan on remedying that anytime soon. D2 certainly has its moments: "Greenland is full of ice. But Iceland is very nice." The knucklepuck. The game of three-bar between Bombay and Wolf the Island coach. Think about that for a second. Can you imagine Mike Sullivan and Peter DeBoer suddenly engaging in a game of one-on-one in the middle of practice, with DeBoer ending it by slashing Sullivan in the knee? |
Re: The NHL Thread
The Mighty Ducks and Mystery, Alaska are the only hockey movies I've ever seen.

Re: The NHL Thread
Look, I'm not saying the first one isn't awesome (it is) but the second one is much better for me. Junior Goodwill Games, that team with tie dye jerseys, Russ Tyler, the stuff Dramageek mentioned, etc etc etc.
It's just better I can't help that I'm the only enlightened one about this We can at least all agree D3 is unwatchably bad, yes? |
Re: The NHL Thread
#9 on Trinidad & Tobago = dangle. snipe. celly.
Team's goal celly is UNMATCHED to this day. |
Re: The NHL Thread
D3 is hilariously bad. This scene still makes me laugh out loud:

Goon is more light-hearted, but totally nails the hockey team and locker room culture. It is this generation's Slap Shot. Slap Shot needs to be seen just because of its legendary status. Quote:
Plus, Charlie is such a bitch in that one. Which I also attribute in part to Bombay's coddling of him over the years. |

Re: The NHL Thread
Barbs, barbs, barbs. Or Bob if I may. Yikes.
D1 is way superior. And I like D2. Haven't seen Goon. Still hate Slap Shot. With that, I'll go: 1. Miracle 2. D1 3. Mystery, Alaska 4. D2 |

Re: The NHL Thread
Love the hockey movie talk.
To cover the backread: I really really like Goon. D2 > Original Mystery, Alaska is fantastic. Miracle is still the best hockey movie of all time. |

And again, I'm totally fine being the only one who holds this enlightened and correct opinion. The first one is awesome. I love it. But I own a combo set on DVD, and D2 gets a ton more action |

EDIT: And perhaps Mrs. Lads too, depending on how she is with F-words and face-punching violence (their sound effects guy deserves an award for that film). |

Re: The NHL Thread
My favorite part of Miracle is how well they shot the actual hockey. They synced it up with the play-by-play so damn well.

And I think the non-actors thing helped. Being able to show the actual players' faces playing just makes it more impactful. |
