People were calling for dynasty after the Pens won in 2009 because of the young players they had.

I know I have told you this but it is not the players or the fans I hate, it is the organization. Growing up the Penguins and Flyers both beat the hell out of my Whalers with amazing consistancy.

Agreed, there is no one in here that I do not enjoy chatting with really. Sure we all cheer for different teams but we all are passionate about the game and enjoy watching games even if our teams are out.

Yeah, that is a really tough blow for you guys - somehow he has turned a corner after playing awful most of the time in Chicago. My real concern is Letang, if Pittsburgh wants to advance he needs to remember other defenders (while not as talented) can help the Pens, aka that set up Maatt made the other night. It looks like he is trying to carry the defense on his back and he is making some bad plays and taking really bad penalties as a result.

Yeah, I thought so myself because I was not sure how the young talent on the Hawks would play together. By 09 the Hawks had Toews, Kane, Sharpe, Keith, Seabrook and Hjalmarsson all still young along with some vets (in particular Hossa, Ladd, Brouwer and Byfuglien) and would add Crawford the following year. It all just came together for them. I hesitate to use the word dynasty but in the salary cap era winning 3 cups and making 2 WCF in 6 years is about as close to a dynasty as it comes.

win or lose tonight, this team has been through hell and back and am super proud of this team. they finally turned a corner and the next 4-5 years will be fun to watch with this core of players.

I really hope you are right about that. This team has put on a great show the last half of the season, and there seems to be a lot to look forward to. If they lose tonight, hats off to Tampa. They are a great, great team, and I have much respect for them.

I don't hate the Pens because it's cool. My hatred is genuine :violent

yea that's understandable

and he's a Lightning fan, but it still does suck that Daley is done for. completely kills the blue line for the Pens....Letang and Daley were probably the only 2 defensemen that couldn't get hurt...oh well, that's hockey

Just got the ESPN notification. I think that's the right call.

Murray tonight

i was perfectly fine with starting Fleury in game 5 though. Pens played awesome in front of him in the 3rd period of game 4 plus you HAVE to give your team MVP and Stanley Cup winning goalie a chance

he got his chance, he looked rusty, and now it's do or die so you gotta go back to Murray

i've only disagreed with 1 coaching decision Sullivan has made since taking over and that was playing Murray in a meaningless regular season game against the Flyers (where he got concussed)

other than that, he's been pushing the right buttons. hope it works a few more times

Agree it is the right call, they should have stuck with him in game 5. Every goalie in the league has a bad game here and there, even elite ones. Elliot gave up 6 unanswered goals (4 in the 2nd period alone to squander a 3-0 lead) against Chicago in game 6 and rebounded in game 7 to eek out a win.

Another interesting question is who STL starts tomorrow after Allen has started the past two games instead of Elliot. Wonder if Elliot is hurt and that is why Allen is in there but if he is I have not heard anything about it.

In their previous 2 ECF's, the TBL were up 3-2 and lost game 6 both times but won game 7.

The players were talking about it this morning in some of their interviews. Hopefully they learned a bit from last year's game 6 and can close it out tonight. Going to be a great game, and I'm happy it's a 7 pm start time for once. I'm expecting to get the Pens best, especially Crosby and Malkin. Having the ability to choose the matchups though should be a big factor for us, being able to stick the Boyle line on Crosby has been a big reason for our success in this series.

Thanks, I do appreciate that you understand why that chip is still on my shoulder.

Agreed on Daley (no idea how he sucked with Chicago and did so well in Pittsburgh) and Letang - they are keys to any success. Daley is done for the year so Letang clearly has to play a larger role but he also needs to play smarter and take less penalties. He is one of the top ten D men in the league who can not only shut down a star foreword but also can pitch in on offense and rack up points - however, he has not been showing much of it this series.

You two definitely come by your hatred honestly! :lol

Definitely like the decision to start Murray tonight. Unlike last year or 2013, the Pens are able to score goals. As good as Vasilevsky has played, the Pens are still able to put up 3 a night on him, and that trend will likely continue tonight. Just don't give up 4!

I actually have to miss most of the game tonight because my fiancee got tickets to see Dave Chappelle (hard to pass that up). So win tonight so I can watch Game 7 on Thursday. :lol

I actually had to miss watching a playoff game in 2002 cause I was seeing Chappelle. Hope he's great. I've seen him twice. 2002 he was hilarious, 2005 was after his breakdown and it was not nearly as good.

Do we need to give you the same talk about women and hockey that we gave Roose a few weeks ago?
