When Holtby let in that softy, and they showed the replay in the arena of how it went 5-hole, I was so sure we were gonna lose the game. And then when Halak made that save on Beagle after the puck took the weird carom off of the stanchion, I was even more sure.

I think Caps have as good a chance as anyone. I don't think they'll win the series certainly. But I think they might make it pretty interesting. I'll say Rangers in 6

Unless, of course, they get broomed

Well considering that the Caps have a habit of going 7, and 3 of the last 4 times Caps/Rags has happened it's gone 7...

Rangers have never been this good. But you're right. Caps love to extend series.

That's what I thought. I mean outshooting them bad and it's 1-1. Had choke written all over it. Seen the Wings do it a lot. Out-shoot a team badly and still lose. Pretty much every game vs the Ducks in 2003 (fucking Giggy).

could easily go 7 if Holtby decides to keep things up. especially with Zuc out.

IIRC, the Caps had a stretch a few years ago (I think still under Boudreau) where they'd lose games when they outshot their opponent and win games when they got outshot pretty regularly. I wish I had the stat in front of me, but it was pretty spectacular.

Yeah that's a tough blow for you guys.

Speaking of injuries, I'll be curious to see if/when the Caps get Fehr back. I'd love to see him in the lineup for this series.

Who goes out then? That's tough part about getting a man back. Who sits? Laich? Glencross? Those are my two guesses. Hopefully not Burakovsky. Doubt it would be Wilson.

so i assume you enjoyed beating the shit out of the smallest kid on the playground when you were younger?

Gotta think it's Glencross. Burakovsky has been playing too well. But he's the young guy, so it might be him. Fehr definitely gets a sweater if he's healthy though.

Absolutely Fehr gets a sweater. I'd have to think Glencross too however based solely on the last game I'm not sure it should be. Really think it should be Laich but I doubt it.

And just change it. Fuck em. The sports gods hate us anyway.

Konner's hearing at 4pm. So between 430-5 we'll hear I'd guess. So when I'm driving home? Great.

The Oilers winning the draft lottery this year was literally the only outcome where no one could accuse the league of rigging it. Bettman and Daly's faces said it all.

they fixed it so that nobody would think it was fixed.

the ol' switcheroo

they should have given the pick to columbus to reward the idea of not tanking.

they're not because the oilers have cups from once upon time. CBJ can't even win a playoff series.

I've always loved the idea of giving the #1 pick to the team that accrues the most points after being eliminated from playoff contention to discourage tanking. The funny thing is, under that rule, the Oilers would have gotten the first pick this year.

Generally I agree with you, I'd rather be in the playoffs.

But this year, if I were a borderline playoff team with no real chance to win the Cup, man, Connor McDavid would be tempting.

The Pens had to live through the Rico Fata era to get one. You never want to have to do that, even if the reward is a generational talent or two.
