:lol OMGCG

Ehrhoff, Letang and Martin = 16.25
Green, Niskanen and Orpik = 17.33

We'll see how it goes, but Nisky and Orpik are 4/5 Dmen, and Orpik is only getting worse.

Ah jeez. This is a Tocchet signing. Hopefully it works out, but the injury history kind of has me worried.

I heard it was just 1 year/$1 mil, so not a lot of risk.

For Alfie is sounds like that. His family is staying in the Detroit area for the year whether he plays or not, so can't imagine him going anywhere. He's waiting until August to see how the back is. With Iggy's contract though, maybe he'll jump ship hoping to get more.

Missing but not huge names, Steve Ott and Jokinen.

Blake Comeau & Steve Downie @ $1.7 mil >>>>> Tanner Glass @ $1.5 mil

Bottom six is already better.

let's not forget that pascal dupuis probably slides down to the bottom 6 now also

edit: unless he plays with malkin, i guess?

I have no idea what theyre going to do with Dupuis. He needs to be in the bottom 6. I think a trade is coming, because theyre pretty close to the cap.

Assuming at least one or two more signings, the Pens bottom six could potentially consists of:

Sutter
Dupuis
Bennett
Goc
Adams
Comeau
Downie
Spaling

i don't see bennett in the bottom 6...but that's just me

Re: The NHL Thread

I think he would be best suited in the top six, but his development was so fucked up under Bylsma that I have no idea what he is really capable of. I think/hope Johnston is going to really help him take his game to the next level.

agreed

another thing that held him back was that wrist, he should've just had surgery right away last year...i appreciate hockey players and their toughness, but sometimes it's to their detriment, not to mention the team's

Martin Scuds or Sutter I think.

Sutter may be a surprise, but i think the Spaling and Goc can anchor a 3rd line, especially if Sutter's rfa costs too much.

sutter? even with the extension? i think they have every intention of keeping sutter

To the Islanders it is then...

Re: The NHL Thread

Alright I think I gotta write a blog post. Fans can be so dumb and crazy. Yes the Wings missed out on guys they wanted, the guys chose elsewhere. We'll never know why but somehow it's the GM's fault and something is wrong and he needs to be fired....A lot of assumptions being made out there with no facts to back it up.

I'm not so sure. If teams are out there signing Engelland for 3 mil and Orpik for 5 years, some team would take Scuds, a two time cup champ on a contract that decreases the next two years.

i mean yea maybe some team would take him, but man, watching him play was hard at times last year, he didn't just look average, he looked lost at times

He seemed a bit past his prime in NYR, but who knows what the change of scenery and coming to the Hawks could do for him? And for a year at $2 million? Hell yeah.

Only thing that worries me is who the Hawks will get rid of in order to get under the cap. At this point if they can get rid of Versteeg I will be pretty pleased, bu they are improving the forward depth by signing Richards at the expense of the defensive depth (if they have to get rid of 1 of Oduya/Leddy/Rozi) I don't know if it's a huge improvement. That said, I'm excited as Richards certainly seems to have much more in the tank than the last few Blackhawk vet signings (Brunette, Zus, Morrison....).
