if you had asked me two weeks ago what a nightmare situation for the jackets would be i would have said "getting off to a slow start, firing Richards and hiring trading a 2nd round pick to Vancouver for Tortorella."

im going to go wander aimlessly in a bad neighborhood with a "white power" t-shirt on. later.

I am glad the surgery was successful but loosing Duncan Keith for 4-6 weeks is going to strain the Chicago defense.

Put the names of every team on a piece of paper, and then put those pieces of paper into a hat. Draw a name, and then throw it away. Keep doing this until there is one team left.

obviously going beyond the usual Ovi jokes, that's pretty incredible.

Him, Stamkos, Toews, and Keith are automatic locks right now for Hall of Fame.

(Obviously, there is more but I'm thinking of guys who still have a good chunk of career left.)

Stamkos already has 275 goals and is only 25. Not impossible for him to reach 500 or more.

2-time Maurice Richard winner too.

here's my thought on the topic:

the HoF should be based on your career. Why would you disallow Patty-K for a convicted rape (an off the ice issue during a playing career) and yet allow potential murders (and a convicted felon may I add) to remain in it in another.

Pete Rose, Sammy Sosa, etc...career related infractions. Keep them out.

what are your thoughts on Ray Rice/AP making the HoF? From a career standpoint AP is a lock, but the man beat his child (in the genitals at that). Let him in though...

Roose13 10-21-2015 11:26 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

Current players in the heart of their careers that are locks for first ballot

Ovechkin
Crosby
Malkin
Stamkos
Kane
Toews
Keith
Bergeron

Guys toward the end of their careers
Chara
Lecavalier (maybe)
Pronger (still under contract)

Guys who need a title to make them a first ballot but potential HOFers anyway
Weber
Price
Lundqvist

Rice not good enough. AP is one of the two best backs to play in the last 15 years.

i think AP, Pete Rose, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds etc should all be in their respective HOFs

Ray Rice is not a HOFer on or off the field

completely disagree

and i don't consider them cheaters

Roose13 10-21-2015 11:36 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

I feel like guys like Bonds, McGwire, A-Rod, Palmero and Clemens were so great they didn't need to cheat and should be HOFers by that fact only. Sosa was never a HOFer or considered great until he started mashing taters. Rose is a HOFer. Enough time has passed for him to be forgiven and put in. Consider it a jail sentence.

As for football, being a dick off the field has nothing to do with talent. AP is a damn HOFer. Ray Lewis will be a HOFer, Michael Irvin is already in.

Kane is too in the NHL, regardless what he was accused of.

If you were great, a questionable personality shouldn't reflect your greatness as a player.

Seriously though, kid's like a Harlem Globetrotter out there. 4 points tonight. 10 now for the season through 6.5 games. Brimming with confidence and showing no interest at all in relinquishing top line minutes to Backstrom. I'm absolutely floored by his play so far this season. They said for a long time he was gonna knock my socks off, all of a sudden this season my toes are cold.

It's a track meet in Edmonton tonight. 6-4 with time left in the 2nd still. Is it 2009 all of a sudden?

Kuzy with the hat trick. And holy shit Backstrom on the 2nd line is insane. What he's been able to do on that line thus far is so much fun to watch. Watching Kuzy and Backstrom I almost forget that the Caps also have the best goal scorer in the league.

It was crucial for this Caps team to come out with a strong start. The stresses of battling back last year after a rough start was hard on the team. Fun team to watch this far

This Caps team is destined for something special this year. OVI/Kuzy/Oshie line has been clicking so well for a new combo. Backstrom on the 2nd line [emoji119]

I disagree with this entirely. What I took from last year's playoff is that the Caps are STILL a team that is as good or better than any team in the league, and also a team that STILL can't handle themselves when it really counts. One bad bounce away from taking down the Rangers? The fuck? They were up three games to one with a lead in game 5 near the end of the 3rd, 100 seconds away from the finish. And yet they didn't get it done. That's not "one bad bounce", that's a team that isn't confident in it's ability to finish the job. That doesn't sound like a team that can "grind it out" at all.

What do you guys think of the Bruins winter classic jersey? I like the crest, not a fan of the stripes.

I actually really like them. Except for the fact that they are the Bruins.

Smart Caps fans are refreshing. One day the Caps will win something, hopefully in your lifetime

Thanks. Frustrating part is they could do it as early as this year.

But I have a feeling I know what's gonna happen :lol

Back in hockey mode, gang. Hopefully the avatar change will bring similar fortunes to the Oilers as it did the Blue Jays.

On a related note, that McDavid kid is pretty good, eh?
