No one ever said it did. Some people seem to think it makes him not tough though.

I for one don't think it matters at all what players say on the ice. And call me crazy but I think what they say should stay on the ice.

It makes him look like a bitch, which is the antithesis of tough. Talking shit on the ice during the game is one thing, threatening to kill someone loud enough so the camera mics pick it up during the handshake is different. Sean Avery type stuff. Zero toughness there.

Amazingly big deal. Thankfully the Myers to Detroit shit can stop now. Someone said you don't see these deals much anymore cause of the cap. I like the move for Buffalo in the long run. Add McDavid to that plus some of the young talent they have, that's good. Of course it's a tank as they trade away guys playing for only one that is now but...duh.

what a move by winnipeg too. It's a great deal all around. One can claim Myers as a reclamation project too. Plus, a 1st rounder. Then two prospects? Sweet deal.

Reinhart, Kane, McDavid or Eichel.

Wow on that trade. Couple things:

- I love the stocking up work that Buffalo's doing, especially with the depth in the upcoming couple drafts. Let's hope it pays off.

- Bogosian might be the dark horse of this move. Awesome, awesome, awesome stay-at-home defender. Would love him on the Avs. Would have actually been a really good potential mentor for Myers, but...

- Good riddance to Kane, shipping him to Buffalo. Of course, if he responds positively and plays well with the kids, this could be something special.

Congrats to you both. I don't remember, did you know before that you were having a girl? Amazing time a head. I'll give you the advice Matty gave me almost 4 years ago when after our first night at home I asked "How the hell did you do it with two at once?" It might take a little time, but once you find the routine with the two of you and the baby, the waking up and all of that is nothing.

So I heard this morning on Sirius NHL that the 3 "powerhouse" teams from California have a combined 28 wins in 64 homes games vs. the eastern conference so far this year. Either the Eastern conference is better we are led to believe compared to the west or those Cali teams are not as good.

~Crashintome89~ 02-12-2015 03:10 PM

Re: The NHL Thread

Yeah, LA certainly hurts that number.

I still say the western conference is better by pure hockey standards. I can see St. Louis or the 'Hawks winning the whole thing.

I know Ovie's doing better, but kids are so impressionable at this young age... you'd hate to get her started off on the wrong foot.

Thanks for all the advice bros. Apparently my wife has a whole level of beast mode I wasn't aware of, she pushed the baby out with no drugs in less than an hour. I had no idea I was married to a birthing machine. And the baby is doing awesome, she can already hold her head up for brief moments.

Unfortunately, she is doomed for a lifetime of Caps fan disappointment. Maybe she's the lucky charm they need.

To the wife, that's amazing. Mine, it took 24 hours after her water broke. Longest day ever. However, you'll be interested to know that I remember sitting in the hospital room wtaching the Caps beat the Blackhawks that Sunday. But when we brought Griffin home Tuesday, that night my Wings took the Caps down. :) Also amazing no drugs.

Very cool about the birthday. Griffin's birthday is 4 days after mine. It was a delayed present for me.

Yeah dude, she sounds like a superhero. :thumbsup Both mine were c-section, so quick and easy... except for the recovery part.

Have fun taking RJ home. That can be the scariest part because you're like, "ok, what do I do with her now?" But you'll figure it out. :thumbsup

And yeah, one of the best parts of a new baby is having excuses to sit around and watch hockey. It's not like you can do anything else with them, so just be like, "yeah dear, no probs, I'll take the baby for as long as you need." Plop down on the couch with her, and boom - instant excuse to watch as much hockey as you want.

That's why I messaged you back then. Such a weird feeling and yeah you figure it out. It's fun when you figure out things to calm them that other people don't know. I had a song for Griffin that I made up that worked a lot or the best part....Playing Ants Marching from Live Trax 20. Yep, that worked a lot. lol

I also did enjoy the watching hockey. G watched a lot of that second round series against the Sharks with me back in 2011 and I mentioned before, woke during the third of game 4 against the Yotes so I was able to lay him down to sleep and then go finish watching the sweep. He knew to wake me up. lol

I think it's only fair that new dads get a win for their baby's first hockey game. Of course now that I've said this, go ahead and book a Kings win tomorrow :lol

My wife basically is a superhero, she's a preschool teacher and handles infants on the reg, so she's kept me in check a lot. I fully plan to take advantage of that last paragraph. Dad will be sure to use Riley as a ticket to watch as much hockey as I can handle, and right before the best part of the season is starting? Now I love her even more ;)

Hockey talk: Thoughts on what Wings should do with Mrazek vs The Monster? They still haven't decided. Basically it's sending Mrazek down to Grand Rapids or trading Monster. My feeling is send Mrazek down, and let him play down there. Once Howie gets in game shape, will Mrazek play even once a week? Also having the option to just call him up if one of the other two get hurt again, is nice.

That might be the way to go, just to get him some playing time. When is Monster's contract up?

That's exactly what the Avs are doing. Roy has said he's pretty much riding Varly the rest of the way in an effort to make the playoffs (ain't gonna happen). So even though Pickard's played great in his call-ups, they still sent him back down to the AHL so he's at least playing on a consistent basis, leaving Berra to ride the pine up in the NHL backing up Varly. So it's like Berra is technically the #2 goalie, but with a big asterisk.

Sounds like that might be the way to go developmentally with Mrazek.

Montster is in his last year. So Mrazek is up here next year. I'm with you, let him play a lot. I see the argument that he's earned the chance to stay but I always worry about injury to someone. You don't always have this type of luxury. So take advantage of it.

I have a client that is a wings fan and it's so annoying listening to him complain about howard.

they have probably the best coach in the NHL and have made the playoffs every year the past two centuries, the organization knows what it's doing.

Complaining about Howard? Last year I can see. He had a down year then. He was gonna be on the damn all-star team this year. He's having a career year...damn. BUT that's Detroit fans for you with goalies. Chris Osgood won 400 games, 2 Cups and was one win away from a 3rd, but people always would point to the things where he didn't do well. He's not Marty, or Patrick or Hasek but he was much better than people gave him credit for.

I've heard some people around here bash Pekka before. Unbelievable. Thankfully there are very very very few of those people.

There aren't too many goalies I'd take over Howard, but Rinne is one where I'd have to think about it.

Kings are back on a streak, finally. Toffoli grabbed his first career hat trick last night. Third goal was on a breakaway. He is so fun to watch, can't wait to see him get even better.
