Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

The first period is a great example of why we shouldn't even have playoffs.

Just like seriously, come on NHL, just give the Stanley Cup to Pittsburgh already. Stop wasting our time.

Second goal his D completely leaves him out to dry.

Third goal was a blown/waved off icing call. Bullshit.

I agree with this, mostly. The first goal it just seems like Grossman and Coburn (I think?) were focused more on disrupting Crosby than playing the puck and Crosby will own you if you give him that window

Second goal, he still should have stopped, but yea the D was horrible, it was a 2 on 1 that turned into a late 2v2 and who ever was the second tried to double team the dude with the puck leaving TK open to get the pass.

Third was bullshit and lucky as fuck if you ignore the no icing.

Honestly, I mean honestly, look at that replay and tell me with a straight face that Coburn doesn't touch that puck.

Pens win the cup or Scott Hall dies, which comes first?

Yeah penalty wise, which is fine. I agree.

But not missing a completely obvious icing call.
But you're a Pens fan so I guess you win every single hockey argument.

How a flyer fan can point to the refs after that is beyond me. Wtf is grossman doing there? Puck hits him, falls to his feet, yet he tries to playt the opponent rather than the puck?

Borque definitely held up. Good call.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Yeah "letting them play" normally doesn't refer to calls like icing or off sides.

It was most likely waived off for a reason...

Okay, I didn't get a great look and they're obviously not going to show that in replays.

At any rate, this game has nothing to do wih the refs and everything to do with the penguins taking it to the flyers 100%.

Kind of worried where the Flyers will try to take the game down big early.

I agree, but that was definitely a bad call. Should probably be 2-0 but regardless the Flyers need to step it up big time if they want to get back in this game.

Play until you hear a whistle. Was it a blown call? Waived off when it shouldn't be? Maybe but you play until you hear a whistle. I guess he missed that particular lesson on day 1.

I bet they will. They've done this all year. They've trailed after the first ten minutes an ABSURD amount of times since jan 1. and still won games. They don't like making it easier on themselves, that's for sure.

Certainly it was a flukey goal and I didn't see the Pittsburgh "domination" in that period really. Certainly the Pens were the better team but it's not 3-0 + a bunch of outstanding saves by Bryz. They took advantage of their best chances but it wasn't totally one-sided. Fascinating period but not a ton of A+ chances for either team.

The flyers just never got set up in the offensive zone. Neither team really did but the pens speed was a huge difference.

He played the man. It wasn't a good play but it's not like he just turned to the refs with his palms in the air.

Refs fault for not being in a position to see it as icing is why I pointed to them
