Holy...I just noticed that last night Tyson Barrie - TYSON BARRIE - quietly moved into a tie with Klingberg for points by a defensemen this season (27). #norris :lol

I guess another example of how not rushing to pull the trade trigger actually worked out for Sakic.

Barrie's MO is to set up just inside the blue line, right in the middle of the ice. He's got a rocket shot that always leads to deflection goals. 23 of his 27 points are assists, and I'd be interested to see how many of those assists are to goals that were tipped, went off someone's skate, etc.

His defensive deficiencies are still troubling (although he's made strides this year), but I think playing with better defensively-steady partners (mostly Nemeth) have helped him feel like he can get back to his offensive ways.

I wish more young blue liners would realize this. Feel like a lot of them feel the need to dangle or get around the dots.

There is nothing wrong with taking "bad" shots with the mentality of a redirect.

Matty - speaking of defensemen on our own teams...There was a thread on Reddit talking about the most dominating performance in the playoffs by an individual and a LOT of talk about my boy Duncs in 2015. I don't know if you've seen this video, but the video is pure hockey sexiness:

I mean, man oh man was that run amazing. I can't think of a recent example (maybe Thomas in 2011 or Malkin in 2009) of a player just absolutely dominating like that. Even more so a defenseman.

Yeah, saw that - quite an achievement. Could be a night for a few milestones. If Dallas beats the Hawks Hitchcock will record his 800th win as head coach and at the same time if Kane puts one in the back of the net he wil enter the 300 goal club.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about Dustin Brown. Always loved watching him play even in the limited west coast games we get here in Pittsburgh. Great for hockey and a Kings legend.

Yeah, they dug themselves quite a hole early this year. Time to start digging up! Talbot is the only reason they won last night, but we need him to have those types of games if they have any hope of making the dance.

Yeah having Talbot both back from injury and seemingly back to form has been a huge part.
I don’t know how a team with so much fire power has so much trouble scoring.so many chances and posts last night, should have been an 80’s oilers team on the scoresheet.

Yeah, he is a stand up player and will likely be under-rated statistically speaking. His contributions to LA have been amazing for that team, I was pretty stunned when they stripped him of the C.

Not all of them, I'd settle for Holtby, Ovie and Backstrom! :lol

I think the best stat for Brown is 1,000 games and he’s only ever missed 15 games. That’s incredible for the style of play he plays every night.
