It's gonna be too little too late for them.

And damn Brohan, nice melt.

Just too many people to jump over. Not a chance they make it.

Yes indeed. That is the other part. And all teams they need to jump won tonight (besides the isles).

It's the common complaint of the loser point. It creates the illusion that teams are still in it when they aren't. A team like Philly, while you're not that many points out, the reality is you're very far out because of how many teams you'd have to leapfrog in such a short time.

The Flyers were toast the minute they lost that game to the Bruins in the last 5 seconds a few weeks ago.

:thumbsup And to do that, Philly needs those teams not only to lose, but lose in regulation. It keeps the standings artificially close.

A week or so ago when the Jackets played the Caps, and the Pens were still about a point behind, the worst thing for the Pens was a tie at the end of regulation, and that's exactly what happened. Just silly.

Re: The NHL Thread (lolcaps)

Great night for Ottawa to play an awful game. No offense to speak of, defense was pathetic without Karlsonn and Anderson looked atrocious. I know the Wild is a solid team but the Senators played abysmal hockey. Would have been nice for Ottawa to win but I still think the Hawks have the Western Conference locked up for home field advantage throughout despite Minnesota getting 2 points tonight.

They lost it after their atrocious play after their ten game winning streak.

Have you guys heard of Connor McDavid? He's pretty good at hockey.

Hakstol should probably be fired for missing the playoffs on the back of a 10 game win streak

This. That killed a good 2 1/2 months of this season because the momentum was so far lost.

Also losing to the fucking Devils 6-2 after whooping the Pens 4-0

Yes. I know they were awful after the streak as well. But they also were mediocre in October. I just meant in the short term recently. They still had a shot til that Boston game.

Strange but true: The Blackhawks will have home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs for only the second time in seven seasons.

Hard to believe.

Yeah, but the way they have been playing on the road this season that might not even be an advantage. That said, I am happy and hope to see home field throughout the western conference playoffs locked up shortly with a big win coupled with a Minnesota loss (Hawks own that tiebreaker) because the Wild have an easier next 5 game playoff tune up.

yea they're going to be the first team ever to miss the playoffs in a season with a 10+ game win streak...so crazy

1995-1996 was his first year

20 seasons in the NHL

1025 points, +172, 408 goals and 2 Stanley Cups

HoF bound?

I would love home ice throughout, largely because the UC is a nuthouse come playoff time, if we can keep up the good play on the road and win 1 out of every 2 at home I think the Hawks are the team to beat in the west.
