Brohan just trolls Caps material all night long, even when they lose. I think it's hilarious.

awesome first period.

Toews = God

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Toews has beaten Lidstrom twice now, and gotten penalties drawn both times, one of them leading to a penalty shot, which of course he buried.

"Hi, I'm Jonathan Toews. go fuck yourself."

Avery on waivers again. I know he's not popular in here, or anywhere, but he didn't do bad when he played due to injuries. Obviously him and torts have some issues and I don't agree with him being punished because of that. He's clearly missed by the garden faithful and brings a spark to the game.

well...not really. And let's wait one more period before we know for sure who that certain team is.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to be the game Sergei Makarov capped a hat trick in a 9-4 game with the Sharks' first-ever penalty shot. I was at that one.

And as long as I'm reminiscing...here's Mike Ricci tying a game against Dallas with 3 seconds left, completing the hat trick on free hat day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oeAqUgq3YDI

And now no team in the league has more points than the Blackhawks. What a friggin win. I needed a win like this to boost my confidence. Mission. Accomplished.

Went to the game tonight.......the Rockford Ice Hogs game.

Brandon Pirri looked good, kid could be our 2nd-line center for good next year. Dylan Olsen has a long way to go before he makes an impact on the Hawks, IMO. Big guy, but he turned the puck over countless times.

Good to come home and see the Hawks won. Will try to stay awake and catch the replay late tonight. Must see that Toews penalty shot.

I don't blame the Cup loss on Leighton. The Hawks were a better team with more depth. They were able to wear down the Flyers. The Flyers lost their chance to win the Cup when they let Game 1 slip through their fingers.

Leighton is not a good goalie and he fell back to earth in the SCF. My issue (and it isn't even with Leighton) is when Homer decided to make Leighton the #1 during the following offseason. Obviously, that topic has been greatly discussed so I won't get into it again...

I don't see why people defend him so much unless someone says he outright sucks. He had a great playoff run and then looked pretty weak in the Finals. Shit happens, but there's no reason to sugarcoat it - he was terrible against Chicago.

Crash is correct when he says that Leighton had some big wins for the team as they tried to claw their way back into playoff contention.

Boosh gets the credit for the final push into the playoffs/success against the Devils.

Leighton came into a tough spot when Boosh went down agains the Bruins. That said, the Bruins without Krejci were a drastically different team than when he was in the lineup (Krejci's injury was the turning point of the series).

The Habs were a very oportunistic team that did not have a lot of scoring depth (the Habs had also hadn't played a team like the Flyers in that playoff year). I don't think anyone was really surprised that the Flyers took care of the Habs as easily as they did.

At the end of the day, Leighton put up some nice stats in that playoff year against some teams that were extremely offensively challenged. He fell back to Earth in the SCF where he did not play well. Had the Flyers recieved more consistent goaltending, they might have won. But as I said earlier, I'm not going to complain about that year because the Hawks were a better team.

Homer just should never have thought that Leighton would be the #1 goalie the following year :BANG

To any Canadians in this thread: what is with all the anti American sentimen? I have always wondered why all the jeering and booing of the US team during the World Jrs when the US is not even playing Canada. There have even been cases of booing the US national anthem. So again, what's the deal?

As far as tonight goes, great game for the Rangers! Should be fun on Monday!

We just really really love to beat your asses at hockey, it's nothing personal. WTF happened to the Americans this year anyway? Beyond their horrible goaltending anyway.. The first goal last night was soooooofffft.

Team USA has a ton of politics involved. That's not the best team that USA hockey could have sent. There were guys that weren't even invited to camp that were better than guys that made the team. They get pissed when players opt to go to Canada and play in the OHL and they hold it against them. And Campbell obviously did not have a good tournament like he did the past couple years, so that didn't help either.

:lol :twak

US also took like 52 shots....just ran into an amazing performance from the Czech goalie. Overall the US was never that great this year.

And I am glad to hear it is nothing personal...guess it is just like how I love to beat Canadian teams when I play them in bonspiels home and away for my curling club! Always shocks them to lose to an American team from NJ haha!
