Great photo. I really hope NJ gets that Gordie SI cover. It's one worth saving.

Yeah, kid played great and has a long career ahead of him. I'd take him on my team any day!

Save your money and just mail a frozen pack to Kessel. :)

My little brother is a Sharks fan and I said that same thing to him and I believe it. When Letang was not on the ice the Hawks would have skated circles around the Penguins D.

Don't bother - sports parades suck, I went to the Yankees WS parade in 1996 and vowed I would never go again. Basically you stand there like an ass for hours and maybe glimpse some floats for a few seconds from behind a barrier. Admittedly if you live in the city it is probably not as much of a hassle, we had to take the train into Manhattan and then grab a taxi to take us to the parade route.

Im sure its much different in NYC. I live 15 mins from downtown Pgh and can easily ride the trolley. Ive missed the last 3 parades Ive been around to remember, I dont wanna miss this one. We were going to go by the stage to at least see that, then go and drink in another part of town.

There is a push to put Gordie on the new NHL 17 Cover as well.

:lol yea when the best skating defenseman in the league is off the ice that makes it a lot easier. especially when he plays 30 mins a game

no one is skating circles around this Pens team, even a healthy Blackhawks...it would've maybe been an even skating matchup but that's about it

Why is that any more weird than putting him on the cover of SI?

well if SI is actually doing a story about his life and if he is the main focus of that month's issue, it makes sense for him to be on the cover

putting him on a video game filled with current players only is weird IMO...and i'm not counting the "unlocking classic rosters" garbage

In the most unshocking news, the AP reporting the NHL will expand only to Las Vegas.

I'll head out of my office to watch the parade tomorrow. We went out on Saturday for dinner so we'll probably stay in tomorrow night.

She has something planned for fathers day. I don't know what it is. It's a surprise.

I'll have to report back :lol

BTW, RE Expansion, why does the NHL think 31 teams is a good idea? Why Vegas over Quebec City? I would think (with no empirical evidence) that Vegas would a more fickle sports market than South FLA or SoCAL.

Sounds like a lot of fun. I did the parade a couple times.

I'll start off again by saying I think the NHL should stay with where they are in terms of number of teams, actually I think they should contract but I know that won't happen so I'll settle on staying put. I'd move the Coyotes to Seattle (if they had an arena) and then the Hurricanes or Panthers to Quebec City, BUT $$$. I think the NHL wants to beat the NBA and MLB to Vegas. A team is going there why not be the first league? If the NBA beat them there by a few years it would be tough for them to compete. Quebec's lack of team is the Canadian Dollar, 16 teams in the East, and while Quebec would be great with gate revenue, you wouldn't be growing the game. They want new fans and new ad revenue. Quebec doesn't do that much. Quebec needs to hope that Carolina is in trouble and needs to move.

That all makes sense. And like I said, I have no empirical evidence what so ever. Although, I would agree with staying at 30. But, an uneven number of teams in the conferences has always seemed weird.

Why?

Because you won the Cup?

Big deal.

No new Canadian team will happen until the Canadian dollar goes up, and I mean way up.

Yeah. I think the NHL wanted Seattle to get their shit together. Bettman said Detroit or Columbus wouldn't go back West so that is just another ding against them.
