Well fuck! That's one way to stop the Pens, take out their best player with an illegal hit.

Wow he literally drove his head into the boards with his elbow.

Looks like knee injury, just twisted and landed on it and then was down for the count. Got a stretcher out.?

Dramageek 05-13-2016 08:44 PM

Re: The NHL Thread

That really sucks for him. I was looking forward to see how the Pens handled him (if at all). Backuo's gotta step up.

Re: The NHL Thread

Vasilevskiy is solid, really young but he's got talent. He played relatively well last year when bishop was dealing with his groin injury and when he was out against the Hawks.

Re: The NHL Thread

Not really sure how I feel about that period. Obviously great to get the lead, especially after dealing with the 5 minute PK, but losing Bish and now potentially Johnson could be devastating. Time for everyone to rise to the occasion and fill their roles.

Re: The NHL Thread

Damn solid first period. Hope the whole series goes this way. Absolutely great goal by Killorn after an amazing pass by Hedman. Hope Johnson and Bishop are OK - not really sure why Johnson turned into that hit though, pretty much exactly what everyone is taught not to do - in that situation people generally push up to the boards and let the hit come and possibly get a penalty if the dude hits you between the numbers.

Hell yeah, way to go Palat!!!!!!

Yeah, seems like Bishop is always getting hurt and Letang is whining about everything, embellishing shit and acting like a choir boy when in reality he has mastered the art of the cheapshot.

I mean tonight was kind of a fluke thing and it looks like his knee completely gave out. That's not really an "always getting hurt" type thing.

Jesus these hits man. Palat's wasn't as bad because at least he was already in initial contact. The final push was a little much but i don't think that's suspension worthy. Glad he seems okay at least. Callahan should get a game. Probably two.

Lcsulla 05-13-2016 10:41 PM

Re: The NHL Thread

That was an extremely stupid penalty for Palat to take when your team is up by 2 with under 5 minutes left.

trd1610 05-13-2016 11:00 PM

Re: The NHL Thread

It wasn't the smartest move no. But overall a really solid game one. Penalty kill was big for us and played well most of the night, Vasy stepped in really nicely and hopefully that can continue moving forward.

Expecting to be down Callahan at least next game, I think Palat will play. Good game Pens fans, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Re: The NHL Thread

Good game for TB, very fun to watch even if there was some dirty play. Nice to see Vasilevskiy step up when needed but I hope Bishop comes back. I do not see any suspensions coming down for anyone, nothing was overtly dirty enough to warrant a suspension. Nice to see TB take away home ice advantage but I fear the Pens may have been on a hangover (for lack of a better term) tonight after beating the Caps. No idea what I am going to do tomorrow, cannot recall the last day there was no hockey game on except in the day before the playoffs started.

Anyone else sick of these constant commercials about the damn horse race and the golf tournament. Horses are good for gambling and tax shelters while golf is a game, not a sport. To have this lumped in with an actual sport is absurd to me.
