Or just the Cap is what it is and take the 3 cups and STFU. (Even though Dale Tallon did arguably a lot of the work)

Dale Tallon also did a lot of the work that fucked the cap in the first place.

Basically nothing Dale Tallon did is left, besides actually draft Toews, Kane, Seabrook, and Keith, etc. None of his contractual footprint is on this team anymore, so I'm not sure what he has to do with the conversation at this point.

Kruger will be back. We'll unload some more cap to make room for him. He doesn't really have many options at this point, being a RFA.

I wish the Isles were in Oduya but we aren't. I am a little disappointed in our lack of impact moves this summer. Of course, Garth did damage late summer year with the trades for Leddy and Boychuk but I can't assume we will net something similar this year. I wish they weren't so reliant on assuming the youth will get better. I would have liked to see an impact veteran added this summer.

pens fans, if any of you are actually intelligent, can you tell me why Mario is selling the team?

because the team will never be worth more than it is now (rumored selling price of circa $850 million) and i also think Mario is tired of the day-to-day stuff

sounds like he just wants to be a minority owner and a figurehead instead of "the guy" at this point

We can try but are flyers fans intelligent enough to understand? Anyway... here it goes....

This. Plus before Mario bought the team the team owed him back salary and compensation and such. He took equity because the team didn't have enough cash to pay him. He probably wants to cash out now to gain some of that back.

I remember when he un-retired and was a player-owner in 2000 (BTW Jagr was still the captain but the NHL should have let Mario wear an "O"). He either didn't take a salary or took the league minimum. Some teams complained saying it was unfair that the pens got a player of that caliber on the cheap and his salary should have been competitive.

I even remember one rumor had Mario getting traded to NYR because of that.

:lol

So them plus signing Hossa....yeah he has nothing to do with it....What was I thinking.

So Oduya to the Stars it is. Still Franson, Semin, Ehrhoff....anyone else out there?

And at 2 yrs, $7.5? Awesome signing considering what other D-men went for. Great signing. That's not much more than what the Hawks are paying Daley, right?

Semin probably won't get a contract until training camp. He'll get a tryout somewhere. Francis really screwed him by saying he had no work ethic.

Semin screwed himself by having no work ethic.

Re: The NHL Thread

Semin needs a place with strong structure, a strong coach and a strong leadership. He's got more talent than most of the guys in the league but just doesn't use it. While I didn't want him because he's too much of a risk, Detroit might have been a great place for him, but they wanted nothing to do with him.

Ehrhoff will probably be a tryout too. Franson though I thought he would have had a deal by now.

Too many years for Kesler, imo. The Ducks will regret his deal in years 5 and 6 and maybe even 4.

Yep. Especially since it doesn't kick in for a year. He'll be 38 when it's over...I don't get it. I mean don't they have some RFA's coming along soon? Still happy I'm a Wings fan. They got Green for only 3 years (sure it's 6mil but only 3 years) also got Richards for a year to add depth plus Nyquist for under $5mil for 4 more years. They've made mistakes like Weiss (although if he doesn't get hurt that first year it might be different) and Kindl but still in a good position.

Re: The NHL Thread

Del Zotto signed to a two year deal. 3.875 Cap hit, not too terrible and only for two years. In 2017 Streit, MDZ, and Schultz will all be UFAs so that will give plenty of room for the young blue liners we got waiting in the wings.

What a weird offseason. I just don't like this team on paper.

No worries, Keith, Seabrook can just play every minute of every game on the back line and get quick breathers here and there if TVR comes along as expected. :lol

Hawks have $750k in bonus overages to go against the cap this year......not helping

Wings signing of Richards should pay off early in the season for sure. Sounds like Pavel will miss the first part of the season. Hope no one else does.

All day Sunday, the NHL network showed each of the Islander's cup winning games back to back. You guys should have taped them so you would have something to watch when you need you hockey fix. I DVR'd them.

Arguably the greatest dynasty ever in hockey and owner of one of hockey's most unbreakable records....19 straight playoff series victories. Someone needs to win 5 cups in a row to break the record. It's not happening.

I've tivo-ed some stuff. Fedorov's 5 goal game against the Caps is coming up soon. A suggestion the other day were games 6 and 7 of the 93 Campbell Conference Final. That was a great series. Game 7 is why Wayne was The Great One.

Enjoyed your playoff highlights?

To this day, Darcy Tucker remains at or near the top of my most hated non-Rangers list of all time for his on Peca in the 2002 playoffs, shredding his knee and likely costing us that series. Peca was never the same player.
