Amazing how quickly the conversation can change in a series though. Remember a little over a week ago when everyone was talking about Cary Price. Have not heard his name mentioned since this series started.

It's not often that an EN becomes the GWG. Awesome finish.

Game ended after 2nd period.

Hawks now 30-0-0 this year when leading after 2.

I can actually watch tonight's game. Hopefully the Rangers avoid being knocked out on home ice. That said, unless something drastic changes tonight, the Caps should be waiting for the Lightning in the Conference finals.

Well Wild probably deserved a bit more out of that series. Looks like no more Rozy though you hate to see it end like that. Could be the end of his career you would think if it's as serious as it looked.

Looks like in all likelihood Hawks v Ducks. I am kinda glad the Ducks have home ice in the first couple of games as the Hawks are due for a bunch of days off and I think it's advantageous for them to kick the rust off on the road. Rest will be huge for the top 4 dmen.

He's so, so good. It's not fair.

In other news, as a DC sports fan, it is my obligation to be nervous about tonight. I'm cautiously optimistic that this team won't lose 3 in a row, but the Rangers still have a chance in this thing if the Caps PK turns back into a pumpkin at some point.

Shhhhhhh

And I'm with you. Nervous as hell. My heart wants to believe this version of the Caps won't lose 3 in a row but I won't believe it until I see it.

When every game has been a one goal game it is hard to guess at what will happen tonight. I know one thing though...if the Rangers don't score at least 3 goals tonight the Caps will be in the conference finals by tomorrow morning.

Personally, I said Caps in 5 after watching game 1 and I am sticking to that. I hope to god I am wrong because my last final is today at noon and I can finally start watching hockey again. I would hate for my team to only last 1 night in my freedom haha.

At the end of the day, unless NY has some major changes tonight and can find a way to score they are done. The only way I would be worried as a Caps fan would be if Holtby either got hurt or gave up 4-5 goals suddenly tonight. Really, just got hurt to be honest. I don't think giving up a bunch of goals would even worry me for one game right now either. Hank got smoked in game 5 against the Habs last year for example.

Prediction: 3-2 Caps tonight on a late 3rd period goal. Rangers fans cheer the team for their efforts. I book a tee time for Sunday morning.

I'm worried for Holtby's health. DC sports are cursed. Look no further than John Wall right now.

He should be fine. So far Kreider has not gone flying into him...so as long as that doesn't happen you are safe. :rolleyes

Hasn't ruled out Detroit according to McKenzie but my guess is he's gone. I understand wanting to see what other teams have to offer before making decision, and can't do that by end of May if he can't talk to them.

I agree with this and it's gotta be nerve racking as a fan considering they've scored 2 or less in 7 of their 9 playoff games so far. And quite honestly 3 might not even be enough, but it will likely take at least that.

Still I say, like a broken record, it's the Caps. I'd hold off on booking that tee time for now.

What's an "interview" with Babcock like at this point.
Him: "What can you give me?"
Teams: "Yes."
Him: "You will be considered."

(shamelessly stolen from twitter)

No shit. It's not an interview, it's a sales pitch by the teams. It's "We'll give X dollars, have these prospects, this is our plan and you can have this much control." While I think he's gone, this does make a lot of sense. It shows a lot of respect between Holland Babs. Holland wants this done by the end of May but Babs wants to see what's out there and wouldn't be able to do that waiting until June 30th. If he waited he could be shutting the door on Detroit prematurely.

Wings also get a 3rd rounder if anyone signs Babcock. Would be within 3 years.

Not really nervous for the Rangers tonight.
I almost, ALMOST, took 3rd base seats to the nats instead.
