It's about not living up to potential and being mismanaged. Not about "only winning one stanley cup"

I tend to agree here. And sure I've seen 4 Cups and a few long playoff runs but that's in the past. I'm looking at what is going on now. In saying that, I can accept losing in the playoffs because of the 4 Cups I've seen. Since 2009, really only one year (2011) where the Wings were good enough to win it.

Disappointing game 1 in DC. Predictably. Nothing specific against the players, it's just who they are until they are not.

I expect a lot more from the home team Friday night and hopefully a different outcome.

No Abdelkader tonight. Not a big surprise. Even when he comes back can't imagine 100%. Very anxious to see Mrazek does tonight.

I have high expectations for my teams every year, regardless how many times they've won.

That is really too bad on Stone. I bet the NHL wished they would have waited announcing no punishment for Subban until they got health update on Stone. He should have a gotten a game or 2. I don't believe in all cases you need to factor "if the guy was injured" but in the playoffs and how wreckless he swung his stick, I think the NHL got it wrong.

Not surprised Crawford starting Game 2, either.

This is true.

BTW, here is great pic of Martin's save last night. I think it had a good chance to go in. It would have been huge for the Caps.

No suspension for Subban is correct. Malicious play, no doubt. Not suspension worthy

This is pretty much where I'm at. I have zero sympathy for Pittsburgh or it's fans.

At this point I'd be over the moon if you told me the Ovie era would deliver just one Stanley Cup

Absolutely serious. That's not a play I would deem suspension worthy.

I have been a life long Yankees and Lakers fan (since at least age 10) so I have seen plenty of championships so I am not one to complain. I no doubt watched more regular season Yankee games when I was young than as an adult during the Mattingly years so I have a lot of losing years back then. I have been a Lakers' fan since I developed my liking of basketball watching Magic play in the in the early 80's. He turned me onto basketball. My Chargers have never won a SB.

That said, I would trade many of the titles for a Cup for the Islanders. I became a fan of hockey at the end of the dynasty years as my brother turned me onto hockey. It was the last of the 4 major sports I got into. As you know, we have had many a lean year since the 80's.

The was a snafu with the DVR last night so it cut off most of the game so I had to watch the rest of it this morning after taping the replay overnight. I was so angry about it last night. I believe the exact words I said to my wife were "You don't understand, the only thing more important than my family in life are my Islanders...and that includes the band", referring to DMB. Nothing would make me happier than a long run this spring.

I just don't really see a full force swing. Yes it's two hands, but it's not overly vicious. It's disappointing that Stone ended up getting hurt. There's no arguing that.

you need to stop the garage league crap.

it's hockey, shit like that happens, if it was the regular season you could suspend him for a game or two but not a playoff game.

they gave him a game misconduct which was probably too much.

did you watch any of the game last night? it was chippy the whole time.

Based on the injury, he should get a game. I bet the NHL wish they had a do over right now. It was an overhand 2 handed slash. A serous chop. About as bad as it gets. I didn't see any of the rest of the game so I can't speak to the context of what else went down.

subban should definitely get atleast 1 game. Stone will probably miss the series.

the bolded is hilarious.

and why do i need to stop with the garage league stuff? because i'd rather see skill on the ice instead of assaults with deadly weapons?
