Just wanted to say thanks to any Caps fans for Forsberg.

I'm the only one in here these days, but yeah. Fuck that.

In other news, the Caps followed up their solid win in Chicago with a blown lead at home against the Hurricanes. Fuck that, too. At least they still won. But this team is frustrating.

I thought it was cheap, but the sucker punch he threw at Brawn during the scuffle afterwards was even worse

So the Flyers held a practice in Atlantic City today, and for some reason, 4,500 people watched: http://www.pressofatlanticcity.com/n...835c18875.html

I hope MacKinnon has a meeting since the Flyers are down another defenseman thanks to his dirty hit.

to be fair, Luke Schenn was definitely getting sent to the press box because of Coburn's return. Who sat last night?

He's doing so well under Lavi's system. He may outscore Neal this year.

It's going to be really annoying when he wins the Calder. Though I am glad he's finding success, I really like that kid.

I think they'll end up having a decent season. The Trotz effect is already there in full force. They're a much, much better team under BT and play the game more "correctly" if you will. They were just terribly unlucky for about two weeks there.

Leafs won two in a row!

I was at the Leafs Rangers game on Saturday. What a fantastic game. Back and forth. No one wanted to play any semblance of Defense. Best hockey game I've ever been to.

Man, that was scary to watch. You could tell there was nothing malicious in the play. He barely touched Schenn, and it looks a little like Schenn lost an edge which made it even worse. But regardless, MacKinnon shouldn't have made contact from behind at all that far away from the boards. He admitted as much after the game.

Trying to take off all homer glasses, I would think the 5 minute major would be sufficient punishment on a play like that. Schenn's resulting injury could change that though.

What's troubling in all of this is the amount of dangerous hits we've seen lately. It's like it's every night we're getting something. If Mac has to sit for a bit to add to the message [what message, amirite?] being sent by the league, so be it.

krejci's injury probably won't get better any time soon. if they sat him thursday i'm guessing he would've been a lot better by now (with 11 days rest)

instead they playedhim thurs and he tweaked something that sounds like it's going to linger

I agree, there was no malicious intent on the "hit." I think at most he should sit 1 game, but really wouldn't be angry at all if he sat none.

Re: The NHL Thread

Interesting point from Custance regarding Jagr:

Quote:

On Monday night against the Bruins, Jagr scored his 708th career goal, which evened him up with Mike Gartner for No. 6 on the all-time list. He also played in his 1,488th career game, passing Wayne Gretzky for 17th all-time. Unbelievable milestones, but with Jagr you can't help but think of what might have been. What would those numbers look like if he didn't miss three NHL seasons in his 30s to go play in the KHL? What would those numbers look like if he didn't play during an era in which the league got caught in a lockout cycle at the expiration of every CBA? There's a good 300 points -- and 100 goals, minimum -- left on the table. Tack those totals onto his career and he's trailing just one guy for goals and points -- The Great One. All we can do about it now is enjoy Jagr while he's still out there producing and, hey, maybe he ends up there anyway.

Jagr is an animal. Heres hoping he doesnt retire any time soon.
