i've explained the sabres thing before.

it wasn't even a joke about ditching teams, it was a joke about buying a new hat. if your labia wasn't hanging half way down your hamstring this morning it might not have bothered you so much.

I've never quite understood the concept of apparently having to pick ONE team and ONLY being able to cheer for that team. Why not like multiple teams? Maybe that's just the Utahn in me, what with all our local pro sports teams that we have to root for :lol

For me, I'm an Avs fan, but almost more so I'm a fan of certain players, regardless of which teams they are playing wrong. Weber, Doughty, Tavares, Toews. Regardless of which team they are on, I'm going to root for them to do well.

:thumbsup This is like the defining hockey movie. It's like those folks who agree that Number Four Bobby Orr was awesome in his day, but wouldn't be as good in today's NHL. We'll never know, but during his time, he changed the game more than any other. That's what matters. Similarly, there may be "better" hockey movies that have been made since Slapshot, but it still holds such a high position of respect for getting hockey films on the map. Especially in a way that made it comical with great characters.

Overall, number 2 on my favorite hockey movies list. Edged out only by Miracle, which was made in such an authentic way that it's hard not to place at number one.

Mighty Ducks is, of course, tied at number 3 with Goon.

Yeah, heaven forbid I like to watch hockey and root for good players and teams when I see them, all while still staying faithful to my mercurial Avalanche!

Totally. It's hard to compare the two because of how different they are. Even so, top 2 hockey movies out there.

no you can't just enjoy a sport.

you have to be so identified with the city and team you root for that it would literally make you physically ill to ever stray.

do the singular team names bother anyone else the way they bother me?

avalanche
lightning
thunder
heat
magic

You can enjoy a sport without being a team adder.

no and in fact i love them because when i was a kid i had one of those magnetic alphabet sets that id use as a scoreboard when i played hockey by myself in the garage and i always needed one of those teams playing because there was only one "s".

ya and before you ask i had no friends until like college man.

I've been doing it wrong for years. I guess the first step to change is admitting I have a problem. I appreciate all your support as I seek to overcome this.

:lol Not exactly. Other than the fact that I hate having to say something like "a bunch of Avalanche players" instead of just being able to say "a bunch of Avalanches." You all have it so easy being able to say "a bunch of Penguins, Flyers, Blackhawks, Bruins" etc.

Did you leave out the Jazz so as not to offend Matty. Jazz is the worst.

yea forgot about them...don't even get me started on the NBA

the fact that the team from Minnesota called the Lakers moved to LA and still didn't change names is absurd to me

same with New Orleans Jazz...makes perfect sense, but the Utah Jazz?

JFC

Jazz is only the worst because they stole it from New Orleans.

If the Jazz were still in New Orleans it would be one of the best team names in all of sports.

Good thing I despise basketball.

Well this is comforting:

"Wings have lost 8 in a row in Philly, getting outscored 33-13. Overall franchise record there in reg. season is 13-38-11 (W-L-T)."
