I think Trotz is the reason for Ovie playing like he is. He's been killing it in these playoffs though. I haven't seen him play like he is in the defensive zone very often.

So much of the difference is Trotz I think. Obviously the quality of the defenders have improved, but the way the whole team plays defense is so much improved. Plus they've got some goaltending now. It's a breath of fresh air.

Would agree. Definitely looks like he lets up at the last second and Brassard (who was already ahead of him) is basically free to make a play on the puck. That was like an 85% back check from Ovie

Sweet win for Caps. Never would I have thought the Caps would be blocking so many shots. I think the number got to 30 tonight.

Also Niskanen didn't get a star last game but I think he was more of a factor in the Game 3 win than Holbty. Dude has been a beast

This whole thing is about perception. You perceive me to be serious, I can assure you I'm not. And I perceive you to be stupid, which hopefully, IRL you're not like this. You continue to take what I post as serious and I continue to think what you post is stupid. Let's just call a spade a spade. I'm serious, you're dumb. End of discussion. That's the fake dynamic here.

Zero chance the Rangers come back from 3-1 two years in a row. Caps are moving on. I'm already breaking out the baseball cap and planning trips with the money I was going to spend on playoff tickets once finals were over haha

Wow. So much backreading. This thread has been fun. Now for a long, catch-up post!

If it gets to a game 7, we're in trouble for sure. I fully expect the Rangers to come out on all cylinders in Game 5 at MSG though, so I kind of expect to lose that one. If we're gonna win this series, I think we have to do it on home ice in Game 6. Hope the boys prove me wrong though.

I love #Lumbus. Unless they're playing the Caps. Plus, their twitter back-and-forths with the Kings are so fun.

And grows the second-best beard on the team, behind Holtby.

Congrats to the Caps for not being...well the Caps. Still not over yet. Ask the Pens last year and heck, the Rangers in 2009...against the Caps.

Or the Caps in 2010 as the Presidents' Trophy winners against the Habs and Halak.

No way they lose this series. I like their chances against the Lightning in the ECFs, too (who would have guessed they'd be up 3-0 on the Habs???)

And an Austrian-born, Swedish Jew with a Russian name who announced himself to the world last night. Love the Burracuda. Been wearing a #65 jersey since the Winter Classic. And he didn't even play in the Winter Classic.

New rule: if you coach your team to a presidents trophy win you and the GM immediately get fired and rebuilding the team starts.

Hey Guys,

I'm ISO an old Canadian friend of mine. Goes by the name Rick Nash; He was last seen scoring goals in March. If anyone has any information on his whereabouts, please PM me.

Nash is not the problem. The Rangers system is the problem. Put Nash on basically any other team and he would score a lot in the playoffs. This Nash blaming is Gaborik all over again. Gabby had 14 goals last year in the playoffs....

Have just been in Calgary for work (hence my silence here the past couple days), and it's been a blast to be here and a part of the atmosphere. Hung out with some friends at a downtown bar and watched the game Tuesday night and then experienced the post-game Red Mile antics.

It was both awesome and refreshing to see how much this city loves the Flames. Everyone I talked to has the attitude of win or lose, they're just proud. It was impossible to not get caught up in the hype just being here. Bob Hartley is the Jesus of Calgary right now. Everyone absolutely loves him.

The sad (and encouraging) thing is Nash is working his ass off. Watching the game last night, he continued to be a strong presence defensively. He's working hard, but you can tell his confidence is low and he's squeezing that stick a little too tightly when he enters the offensive zone.

With the Caps history, might be close to probable. Not trying to be a dick but... Blowing 3-1 leads and 2-0 leads is what they do. I bet they have done it more than any other team.

I'd welcome another blowing of a series lead in 2015 :thumbsup

I remember back in the '90's, the Caps were up on the Pens 3-1 on three separate occasions. The Caps lost two of those three. :lol

And they're playing the Rangers now. The Rangers haven't come back from down 3-1 in a conference semifinal since all the way back in last year.

To be frank, I don't think he's the problem at all. As fonz said, he's doing all the little things right. Just feel bad the guy can't get the light to go off.

Nice, good times. Admit it though, you were really there to see us elect a bunch of socialists after 44 years of the same conservatives in power...
It pains me a bit living in the other city, but I really enjoy watching the flames right now.
