Poor Vitale....Chara hit him in the face with a wristshot. Hit him below the helmet on the right side of his head/face. He wasn't cut, but went instantly down. I hope he's alright and it's not a broken jaw if it hit him in the wrong place. Don't know how it can't be though based on where it hit him.

Most of us have been here the entire season, just don't post every single game. I remember posting on here the first game of the season when we played in Europe... been here since the beginning :)

Think I'm getting tickets for game 1 of the first series, whether its buffalo or washington it should be a good challenge, hoping we don't have too difficult a time though.

Aside from this thread, it did seem like there were tons of ranger fans in wells fargo tonight.

Can't wait for the playoffs. I don't know if my heart can handle it. It's bad enough when you're the underdog but to be the favorite in hockey is a different animal the rangers haven't had the luxury of dealing with in a long. damn. time.

I know none of you care, but the Sharks came up huge in a battle of a game tonight. Playoff prospects much brighter than they were three days ago. For the first time, I'd like to thank Matt for Galiardi and Winnick, as they both scored tonight — Galiardi's was his first point as a Shark.

OK, you may resume your 24/7 PHI/PIT/NYR discussion.

Also, I would pretty much always be against tanking for seeding. BUT, Philly really should have like rested half the roster or something a few times because 6th place would have given them a 1st-rd matchup against the shitty Panthers.

if the flyers lose to Buffalo and Pens and Nj wins their last two, they do end up 6 seed.

not sure they would want that, but if they lose thursday, do they go into Saturday with a minor league roster and rest up everyone?

It was a meaningless game for the Bruins so I didn't care much but i would have been pissed if that game meant something because that was clearly the turning point of the game. I'm much more concerned about the possible Boychuk injury than the result.

So you guys can imagine the shit was saying about halfway through the third last night... but the line of Datsyuk-Franzen-Bertuzzi, along with Howard's first two periods and shootout, saved the day. They had no business winning that. Tonight is huge against the Devils. Go Stars too!

I'm torn. I want the Flyers to win tonight, obviously. But I want the Sabres to sneak in over the Caps. I also want the Rangers to win tonight. I know. Wtf.

So I guess..... Go Flyers, Go Rangers (ugh.), and Go Panthers.

I think Washington gets in. Honestly it would probably be better for viewing for the Panthers to not get in and the Caps and Sabres to get in. If it's Panthers/Devils it'll end like 2000 when the Devils swept the Panthers. Panthers aren't any good and are really struggling now.

Who cares about viewing? I don't want to see the Caps in the playoffs because then everyone will make a point about Ovechkin still being good.

I don't want the Caps in either but I also don't want to watch the Devils sweep the Panthers.

The Devils aren't going to sweep the Panthers. The Panthers have been quite consistent all season, despite pundits saying that they'll eventually fall off. Kevin Dineen is a good coach and the team has a good core of players, who want to win.

They've lost 4 in a row and 7 of 8, and 6 of those 7 are against non-playoff teams. On top of that if shootouts didn't happen they would be 0-4-4 in their last 8. I don't see them staying in the playoffs very long.

The Panthers are a joke. Would be the worst team to make the playoffs in a long, long time. 18 OTL is how they are going to sneak in? Awful.

That said, I hope they win tonight. I hope Buffalo wins too. I want nothing more than to see a dismantling in Washington. Tear that team apart.

That's what happens when you have a team full of mid-level talent.

The Caps need to be blown up regardless if they get in or not. Backstrom and Ovie are the only two you don't move. Everyone else is available. Obviously some young kids probably aren't going to move but you know what I mean.

I was more than happy to see the Panthers find success early on, but I always kind of had that feeling that it wouldn't last forever. It's great for the organization and fans for them to make the playoffs, but I agree that they won't last long.

Yeah just don't have the talent to go through a whole season. Good for them to make it to the playoffs but if they are gone in 4 or 5 that won't help much. Ask the Thrashers about that one.

I believe in Tallon though. I think he has a plan. They have a ton of guys with expiring contracts, and plenty of cap room. If they can create a buzz, hang on to some guys (Versteeg)...Tallon can keep this thing rolling.

I would rather see the Sabres make it in, simply because I hate the Caps. Although, it would be a nice rematch to take on the Caps again, in reverse seeds. Being from upstate NY most of my friends are Sabres fans so it would be a lot of fun to watch the games with them. No one cares for the Caps.

and this. I've enjoyed the lack of Ovechkin talk this year.

I agree completely. If all goes right, this is just natural progression. The playoffs are a start, and hopefully from here they can improve and build.

This was kind of my attitude towards the Avs this year... even if they made it in, they wouldn't last long.
