Take it from someone who has broken their collarbone twice. He's not returning to play professional hockey in six weeks.

Overtime!! Only the 7th playoff OT thus far this year. Seems low. Typically the Caps alone have 3 - 4 in the opening series

I don't think Fleury thought he was going to shoot that one so quick.

I mean, hockey players may be a little tougher (and dumber) than you

Toughness doesn't have anything to do with it. Just the simple act of hitting someone with that shoulder or even taking a slap shot would re-break the bone. It's such a crucial part of the shoulder joint, you're pretty much immobile with that arm until it's 100% healed.

My second collarbone break was in high school. It was a complete break and the two parts of the bone even overlapped a bit. It was about 7-8 weeks before I was even allowed to consider throwing a baseball, 9-10 weeks before I could lift weights again.

Granted, he probably has access to more advanced rehabbing technology than I did, but the fact remains, it's a shitty injury to try to come back from quickly.

I’ve never broken my collarbone but a good friend broke his a few years back in a motorcycle accident and this was pretty much his scenario. Basically zero use of the shoulder for two solid months. He said it was without doubt the most acute pain he’s ever felt in his life.

My son broke his collarbone the second night of bantam tryouts, cheap check from behind just like Oshie. It was about 10 weeks before he was cleared for contact.

Re: The NHL Thread: The year of Stanley Cup upsets!

Yeah, I have to go with the majority on this one - a busted collarbone takes at least two months to fully heal. It sucks for the pain involved but anatomically the collar bone is like a circuit breaker, it gives so that your arm or neck do not snap leaving a person an even longer and tougher road to full recovery. Bottom line, Ohsie is done for the year regardless of how far the Caps go because any type of contact to the area he hurt will make it 10X worse.

Refs letting the Caps do whatever they want. Pathetic if the Caps don’t win with a 4 man advantage.

Someone should post a video of that goal for that kid who thinks Ovi isn't a great goal scorer…:popcorn

It was kinda terrible defense though. He was sprawled out like he was on Game of Thrones. Ovi cut to the middle and took all the ice he could though.

Smith-Pelly literally punching the helmet off a Canes player. No big deal. Ovi and Wilson constantly charging. No big deal. Wilson kneeing Marty away from the puck in his injured knee. No big deal. Holtby slashing Williams’ stick away which then lead to the Ovi goal. No big deal. Lucky that Williams’ stick broke, or there wouldn’t have been a slashing called on Wilson.

Are you watching the game?
