Wow, Bruins took 3 straight delay of game penalties and the Sens failed to register even a single shot on all 3 power plays....

Edit: And then the Bruins scored on their first PP!!

I mean to not give him the job after giving him the raise and title to not leave, would be crappy. It's a business but still would be crappy.

As for the 2nd round, rooting for the Sens over the Rangers just because of Anderson and his wife. Sorry Rangers fans.

Disappointing Toronto couldn't push it to 7 but it was arguably the best series of the first round and they gave The Presidents Trophy winning Washington everything they could handle with 5 out of the 6 games going into overtime.

Overall, it was a fantastic season for the Leafs. I really believe if they can somehow find a 22-23 minute a night D-man (getting rid of carrick who was dog shit all series and as far as I'm concerned responsible for their loss in 2 out of the 4 games), coupled with the growth expected out of their young kids, they can be a REALLY tough team to beat moving forward.

This is a really exciting time for the franchise.

Johansson, 2 goals, game winner!! absolutely love it!!

Great series Toronto, thanks for playing fast and tough and getting us ready to beat Pittsburgh.

If nothing else, at least we get another crack at the Pens. My hope is that this series prepared them for what next series is going to be like. The Pens are basically just a better and more experienced version of the Maple Leafs. So we'll see. Glad they got it done last night and didn't let that awful Matthews goal sink them to a game 7. Really good to see that resiliency as it would've been very easy to fall into the "same ol' Caps" trap. I know I did on my couch.

:thumbsup hats off to your squad. There's certainly a lot to be excited about.

But fuck Nazim Kadri. And Leo Komarov. Fuck him too.

Shortly after the goal happened, one of the many thoughts that ran through my head was fuck! Theres Climb's guy! :thumbsup

I've been extra pro-Marcus for a long long time and have always said he's incredibly underrated. Great to see him get rewarded last night, that whole line was just unreal.

That Austin Matthews goal was one of the most exciting goals I watched all playoffs. The bounce was bad, but the finish was fucking amazing. I wanted to buy a Matthews jersey in that moment.

Anyway, congrats on the second round! Hope you give the Pens fits!

Re: The NHL Thread (where the Presidents Trophy matters!)

So TSN placed the Rangers 8 out of the 8 remaining teams in the playoffs as far as rankings go. Anything can happen in the playoffs, but unlike round 1, I would honestly be shocked if the Rangers get knocked out by Ottawa.

I think the Rangers should be more like 4 or 5 based on the first round.

I would rank the remaining 8 like this (based on watching the first round): *These are not my picks btw!

1) Anaheim
(Series sweep, and they look like a Cup winning team)

2) Pittsburgh
(They could easily be 1 as well)

3) Nashville
(We will find out if they are for real, but they sure looked great in round 1)

4) NY Rangers
(I like what I saw from this team, and the series could have easily been over in 5. If Hank stays hot, they will be very hard to knock out)

5) Edmonton
(Oilers were fun! That said, I think the Sharks were bad)

6) Washington
(Washington looked worried all series and struggled to beat a WC2. On paper they are the best team, after round 1, I have them at 6 until they play with more confidence).

7) St. Louis
(Totally got out played everywhere except in goal....and that was enough to beat the Wild. It wont be enough against the Preds)

8) Ottawa
(Maybe it is me, but I didn't feel like either team in this first round series looked like a playoff team. Sens will need to be better to beat the Rangers).

Random thought since peeps are talking about the Oilers - their white sweaters are damn fine hockey sweaters. The orange ones, not so much. I wish they'd go back to the blue ones.

I thought the orange ones were their alternates. Are they switching for next year like the Pens did?

Shame the top two seeds are up against each other this round. It is what it is though. Have a feeling the caps take it this time.

Edmonton (7)vs. Anaheim
St. Louis (6) vs. Nashville
Ottawa vs. New York (6)
Washington vs. Pittsburgh (5)

Yeah, its a 'permanent' switch. New team. new arena, new regime, new primary sweater.

No alternates league-wide next season, only 2 per team.

I think it was in the third when they went 4-4 and the Leafs skated 3 rookies. Incredible, I'd love to know when a playoff year did that. And they held their own.

Married to a flyers fan. Doesn't change anything here. Flyers fans calling out other shitty fan bases is hilarious.

I get it though. Flyers a never successful. Gotta hang your hat on something.

Being form central PA I have a lot friends that are both Flyers and Pens fans. I can vouch for the Flyers getting a bad rap. My friends I know are all good people. I'm convinced its the South Jersey trash that gives Philly sports teams the worst fans
