I'm still going to defend Bellemare as a player. He's not that type of player.

But I want him suspended. I want this repeat-offender shit abolished. I don't care if Ghandi hits someone from behind. There should be a minimum two-game suspension with any ejection and it should increase after that.

Yeah, they screwed the pooch Friday by waiting to switch over from TB to St. Loius when for all intents and purposes the TB game was over. Luckily there was no goals or anything controversial during the first ten minutes of the Blues/Hawks game that was not on the air.

It wasn't malicious. Bellemare is not that type of player. It was a bad shove that was exerbated by the way Orlov was positioned. Considering the fact that no one went after Bellemare after the hit, and Bellemare actually checking on Orlov, he'll get a game or two.

Agreed, you could tell that Bellemare was concerned about Orlov and I think that will help his case if it comes to a suspension or fine. What I do not get is after that why Gudas came in swing like a madman after the hit, nor do I understand White's postgame comment about how he would do the same thing as the fans.

Also, since it's come up, I too agree this is outside Bellemare's game normally. And Iit wasn't malicious.

But still incredibly dangerous and I also agree, longer suspensions is the best way to get through to players on this issue

I agree I wish they would've staggered the start time to all these games.

Yes, I appreciate this attitude. Just because a player delivers a dirty/illegal hit doesn't make him a dirty player overall.

But these hits have to be curbed somehow. If it takes suspending Bellemare 10 games or something to help with that, then I'm for it.

I'm not saying this particular hit was malicious. It wasn't. And Bellemare is certainly not that type of player. However, even it was exacerbated by unfortunate positioning, the hit was dumb and unnecessary, and it kind of fit in with the Flyers stereotype. And now Bellerame has a mark on his record, which will hopefully just be an anomaly.

Agreed with the repeat offender bullshit. The message doesn't seem to be strong enough. Make the consequences severe right off the bat. Players these days should know to try to avoid making such hits.

This is why there are repeat offender rules after all.

edit: apparently someone ran into him and he went to the locker room stretching his leg. He better be OK.

In other news, Chorney is skating with Orlov, so looks like Trotz made the right decision there.

Yikes! Now the Flyers might only lose 6-4 as opposed to 6-1.

Seriously, though, hope he's okay.

Holtby out... Flyers in 7.

For real though, if he were to be out, that would be awful news for a guy having a tremendous year and who seems to be poised to lead his team deep in the playoffs.

Sure but with both starting at 7 both late games start at 930 with very little overlap there if DET/TB or NYR/PIT go long.

I mean, I bet that's ideal. But of course, subject to change depending on where a particular series is at.

I think they were on CNBC for a few games, which I always laugh when I see that, but not like it matters to me. I get my local guys for round 1 so I'm happy.

Good news for Caps.

Is there anyone in here who doesn't get frustrated with espn.com's 'insider' articles?

I get frustrated with the Insider stuff cause I follow Custance and he has some good subjects sometimes and I can't read them. I'm not gonna spend money on it though. Really not worth it for me.

It's crazy that Boudreau has never had a clear #1 goalie heading into the playoffs.

No, I would not pay either. Sucks because there so many articles (all sports) where I click on, read the intro without knowing it is an insider article and then just going... dammit espn!
