For right now I'm not worried. It's literally no worse than every other hit that happens in the playoffs. Every hit in the playoffs is late. Every hit in the playoffs is in the numbers. If something comes of this it will be very disappointing. I doubt it will.

that's not a good sign for calgary last night.

i figured the first couple of games with anaheim being off for so long and calgary with confidence would be their opportunity to steal a few.

There was lots of questionable hits and missed calls both ways. Let's let it go now.

Yeah, I caught a little bit of that game. Yikes.

I'm not worried. There is zero chance there will be a suspension. Backstrom has no history of anything dirty, and this wasn't anywhere near the level of the Kronwall hit (which I would hardly call the weakest in the series).

Yeah that hit was bad. I was shocked there was no call. That was way, way worse than what Backstrom did last night.

100 times worse than what Backstrom did last night.

I do agree that's a bad hit by Ovie. I just have zero sympathy for crying Islanders fans as they had plenty of shit go their way too, including the ONLY power play in game 7 that came with 3 minutes left in the game. I can think if multiple blatant high sticks committed by both teams that weren't called. Its hockey, refs miss shit a lot. Time to move on from it.

So no blame on Carlson for being dumb enough to punch a guy right in the face right next to ref. Not sure how the ref could let that one go.

Seriously, there is zero controversy over the Backstrom hit if the puck doesn't end up in the net

What is getting lost in all this is how the Swede has been absolutely bringing it In every way so far this playoffs. Goals, hits, he's been really strong on the back check, face off wins, and great passing. Could not ask for anything more from #19.

There is no controversy at all from my stand point. The Caps scored a huge goal with no time left. We lost, time to look to next game....end of story.

Still, Girardi and McDonagh are no easy task for a forward.

I stand by my claim from the beginning of the season that Boychuk was the best non-draft acquisition the Isles have made in years. You just can't undervalue a player of his skillset.

Girardi and Mac are going to do well against Ovi. I mean, with a player of his caliber the Rangers could ice 5 solid defensemen (which they have) at one time and Ovi will still get shots and scoring chances. He's not the same player he was back when Hal Gill and PK Subban figured out that if you just put two bodies on him you could shut him down. You don't stop Ovi now, you just try to contain him and limit his chances best you can. Boychuk did it admirably, and I think Girardi will as well.

I have a crush on him that's borderline Chris/Derek Roy levels.

Girardi and McDonagh have been a thorn in Ovi's side for years. They always play him well, and the Rangers coaches (both Torts and now Vigneault) have been great at making sure they're always on the ice with him, even when the Rangers have last change.

:lol thank you.

that is absolutely not suspension worthy.
there doesn't appear to be any intent to injure.

to me its so black and white the difference between a play like that and a play like Kronwall's.

That's what I saw too. Got a lot more shoulder than the initial TV angle made it look.
