Just saw this too and was coming to post about it. What a shame. I know he had been suffering from post concussion syndrome and depression. Really sad.

Just showed up in news feed. Wow. So one headline said natural causes, but a couple mentioned depression so made me think suicide.

It's getting difficult to contain my level of excitement. What a great move here. It doesn't shake up the chemistry that this team has had and adds to key pieces that are going to contribute immediately. They're both UFA's but we get them for a 1st rounder, Olli Jokinen, and a meh prospect. I'll take it any day.

Plus both of them were drafted by Nashville. :lol

Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber still on the offensive.

It was another enjoyable season, right? Giving up leads late in games and missing the playoffs is so entertaining.

40 plus years of failure. Keep defending shit boys.

Zilla, your post made no sense. And no one was denying the Flyers are bad this year.

Can't do anything this year. It's just another season to prove how fucked this team is. At least three years away from being a legitimate contender thanks to Holmgren's horrific tenure as GM, which you defended every time I brought it up. Now they're a dogshit team with another failed season who hasn't won shit in 40 years, but it's fine because "this year is a wash."

It's gonna take fans not going to games to get Snider to wake the fuck up. The Sixers will be exciting before the Flyers at this rate.

I don't think anyone defended Holmgren, just argued with you because you come in here with over the top and insane reactions to everything acting like you know what is best. I don't think there is a single fan in here that doesn't know he has crippled the team's flexibility with his deals, but you come and look down on any Flyers' fan who actually roots for the team as being idiotic or supporting Holmgren. We get it, you like to be smart and right, but just shut the fuck up already.

Re: The NHL Thread

there's no correlation between 40 years and the Holmgren tenure either.

The Flyers haven't been a legitimate Stanley Cup contender since 2004. Anybody who says otherwise is an idiot.

You know what the biggest problem the Flyers have always had? Their scouting department sucks.

Ryan Getzlaf is an idiot. Gonna slash Ovie across the hands and then whine about it to the media afterwards. That play is called as a penalty 10/10 times. Gonna call Ovie a diver after the game. What a tool bag.

Bold is not remotely true. I want more than anything for the Flyers to do well. The complacent "good season, we'll get 'em next year boys!" attitude that fans have toward the Flyers versus any other team in this city, regardless of the outcome, is sickening.

And bullshit no one supported Holmgren (or Clarke, for that matter). People in this thread are just like radio callers and forum posters who think the team can do no wrong. I don't think wanting to win a Cup, or looking back at the horrible moves and calling them horrible is insane and over the top. You're obviously content to just watch a team in orange and black play hockey, regardless of the outcome, so good for you. Some people actually want to see a winner.

There absolutely is a correlation - Holmgren's tenure was an extension of the disastrous management this team has suffered from for close to two decades. Instead of making meaningful changes they simply shuffle guys around the organization and bring back familiar faces who will bend to Snider's every stupid whim.

And you're going to admit this team hasn't been legitimate contender in over a decade and not get pissed off about it?? That is what's insane.

Dude, just stop -- they're on pace to play 82 games this year. 82 games! How could you ask for anything more??

So....the goalies didn't do so hot in that Pitt/Chi game. Not too often you see all the guys score from one team and 2 of 3 on the other side.

that was pretty sweet. Amazing how he's able to do that every time. It would drive me nuts as a goalie and just be like "make the move already" and I'm sure that's part of what happens in their head. So used to things going so fast during actual play, then you get that change up.

You must not listen to WIP radio then, because there are no comparisons between what we say and what they say.

Turn on WIP and you'll hear people saying trade Giroux, Mason isn't a good goalie, ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

Fleury jumped out for the poke check and whiffed. Kane's hands are just so damn good
