whos to say he doesnt have some kind of lingering injury? why play in this game if he does? stars skip all star games in every sport all the, are they called bitches? Datsyuk & Lidstrom did they same a few years back. Are they bitches?

Looks like he isnt just being a 'bitch':

Sources say Sidney Crosby underwent an MRI at the beginning of the week. Played the following 2 games. Crosby was re-evaluated by the @penguins doctors today that advised him to rest or run the risk of agravating the injury. @TVASports

This is the most important part.

Chris, I agree.

Kings are so built for the playoffs it's not even funny. You know what scary part is though? they're able to use guys like Tiffolli, Pearson, and others in their system. These guys are built for the Kings. It's so amazing. I swear, them and the Blackhawks. there's a reason why they have won so many playoff series in the past five years. They know how to draft the rights guys for their organization.

GET A CLUE, FLYERS. GOD DAMN IT.

Sorry.

Yep, exactly. They know how to manage an organization. How to use draft picks to fill holes that fit what they need, how to cultivate and develop homegrown talent, and get the most out of those players during their cheap years.

They do a great job. The thing is, both these teams really know that the "real season" for them doesn't start until April. It's almost like they get bored with the regular season.

At least when his career is over we can call him a one time all star. Crosby missing another all star is bad for the game. I am not saying that he shouldn't care less about the all star game...but the message he sends is that none of us should care about the all star game either. So really...the NHL should just consider dropping the all star weekend all together.

I do agree with this. However, they need to make it first. They are slowly falling out of the playoff picture. Still along time to go, but they need to get going.

Sadly they won't get rid of it. They need to, but won't. It makes a lot of money for them from sponsors and for the host cities. Great way to show off the stars, when they show, in a way that you don't get in the NHL the way you do in like the NBA and people seem to like that shit. I'd love to get rid of it, but still give teams 4-5 days off to rest in the middle of the season. But hey...money.

As for Crosby, they better put him on IR or he needs to show up. Remember that crap with Lidstrom and Datsyuk a few years ago? Both were hurt, but really just needed the weekend off and the NHL wanted them to fly to ASG just to be there for the extra crap. They didn't, and had to sit the first game after the ASG.

I personally don't care, cause I'll barely watch the game, but for how much the NHL uses him for marketing, and how skillful of a player he is, it's good for the ASG if he's there. Even people who love to hate him (or any good skillful player) they sometimes like to be able to just enjoy watching said player and not worrying if they are going to burn you. I love the Olympics and rooting for guys I usually root against.

i love the Olympics too, because those games are meaningful...

don't get me wrong, i feel bad for the ppl in C-bus who bought tix expecting to see him and Malkin and other guys that dropped out, but man, when you're injured, you can't be playing exhibition games

this is so common nowadays in all sports that i'm seriously surprised people are even talking about it

What's the realistic chance one would get hurt in an ASG anyway? It's not like there's hitting or defense at all really

I guess if your Sid though, it's a pretty high chance

good one

and it's not about getting hurt in the ASG, it's the fact that he's already injured

see the difference?

What's his injury? Is it something that's actually risks aggravation by simply skating? That's all he'll be required to do, realistically

yea i mean he's scheduled to get an MRI so...

i'm 99% sure you're just trolling right now because its Crosby, which is fine

i'm not sure there's a single Pro athlete in any sport that would play hurt during an ASG nowadays...which is why this conversation is so surprising to me

I agree, and I'm not dogging the guy for doing it, especially if it's something that just not bumps and bruises, and it sure seems like it's more than that. I think for some people, it's just the NHL markets the crap out of the guy as the best player and then he's never in these games where you showcase these stars. He's always gonna get shit on and a big part of it isn't his fault. People resented him from the start because he was being called "The Next One" before he'd played a game. Then you add in the fact the he was a pretty whiny little bitch when he came into the league (still can be but is better now) and it's a cloud that will always hang over his head. I don't think he'll ever get rid of it.

I know Crosby is very good, so I hope this is not taken the wrong way. If Crosby never wins a second cup, he will be in my opinion the most or second most overrated player ever. Ovi too. Both of them were sooooo over billed as the next big things in the NHL. I am still waiting for Ovi to even play for a cup...and the Pens seem to be getting further from the cup every year.

it's awesome here today, the NHL has completely taken over the downtown area near the arena, they did a really good job setting it up.

Yup, I will not be worried if they get into the playoffs but actually getting into them worries me. The West is so tough once you fall too far behind it is nearly impossible to catch up. Just worried Kings are slipping to that black hole. Trying not to panic that much though.
