You, happens all the time. Now if the puck were over at the boards and touched or played by that player then we can talk.

He was making a line change. Avs coulda had 3 players on the ice and still woulda celebrated the OT win.

Can go cry in your last two cups though.

Unless one of the forwards that came on for him played the puck before he got off.

Iíd like to see a video of who came off/on, but I canít find any. And still, heís at the bench. This occurs many times with no call. Clearly this did not impact the winning goal. Tampa should been better in OT.

Sorry for your lose though. :hug

the too many men call is so subjective. theres always too many guys on the ice when making changes. i wish they would just add a box to the ice in front of the benches for changes. have a line 18 inches out, the length of the benches. if you are within that box and clearly exiting the ice or coming on without making a move towards the play, you're considered off. if you are coming on and leave the box before the guy you are replacing reaches the box, its too many men.

It occurs many times with no call when the guy coming off the ice near the bench doesn't play the puck nor the guy who came on for him played the puck. If the defense has possession behind its own net, and the forwards make a line change, it doesn't matter if there's 6 or 7 on at a time because they're just holding the puck.

But if Kadri jumped on early and received a stretch pass while the guy he was replacing isn't off the ice yet, it's 100% a penalty. Clearly that would impact the game winning goal.

I'm just saying it's a shitty way for a game to end if that's what actually happened, which is I'm guessing what Cooper was alluding to. We still played like total ass in OT and probably deserved to lose, but having a powerplay there could have been a difference maker.

My "oof" comment was more along the lines of it being a bad look that the NHL missed a possible penalty on a SCF game winning OT goal...not so much crying about it from a losing perspective. The Avs have clearly been the better team all series.

If he jumped on early, that’s different and I will agree. Based on the photo, the dude is trying to open the door. If we are doing hypothetical scenarios we can go all night. Hopefully we get a better vantage point of it. If he didn’t jump on early, this happens often.

I don’t know the solution. I guess keep that door open all the time so guys can get in with no hesitation.

If Kadri got on early (for the guy in question), yes that’s an impact and sucks for TB. If he didn’t and the other dude is clearly trying to get into the door and has zero impact on the play, no that’s just the way it’s always been.

Re: The NHL Thread

There's also the possibility that Cooper was talking about an Avs player playing the puck with a highstick before Kuemper touched the puck for the 2nd assist on the GWG:

https://twitter.com/stevekouleas/sta...509057/photo/1

So now there's two possible reasons the Avs goal maybe shouldn't have counted lol. Who knows.

Here's a video view of the Avs bench: https://twitter.com/KaileyMizelle/st...34305694007297

It's more of a gray area than I thought, I guess

Of course I want my team to get the benefit of the doubt

Still, while MacKinnon is slow to get off the ice, but he's headed for the bench and a nonfactor in what's about to happen

Edit: Mac is over the boards before Kadri enters the frame

The five foot rule only applies if neither guy plays the puck.

There's video now too:

https://twitter.com/KaileyMizelle/st...5Es3_&ref_url=

Kadri is the player coming on the ice for MacKinnon and clearly plays the puck way before Mac gets off (as evidenced by the previous picture I posted).

It's 100% a textbook too many men penalty.

Apparently interpreting the rules correctly and being able to count is a judgment call.

ie "We fucked up but won't admit it."

:lol Never change, NHL.

Really don't care about the noise surrounding the too many men "controversy". Part of the game from which the Lightning have also benefitted. The better team won last night. I hope the Avs are drinking Cooper's tears out of the cup tomorrow.

Re: The NHL Thread

Who cares. NHL officiating is universally bad and inconsistent and did I mention bad? The refs weren’t calling anything in the third on either team even the most blatant stuff, so what’s one little too many men call. There are probably more hockey minutes with wrong/missed/non-calls than with good ones. Can’t complain about one in a vacuum.

I think the weirdest goal I've seen besides that was a NCCA tourney game where a team scored the play went on for like 2 minutes before the whistle and then the review was like 8 minutes long. Puck went through the net.

Yeah when he made the shot, I couldnít see the puck, but it was clear Vasy didnít have it. The reaction by the Avs players who obviously saw the puck in the net was all I needed to realize it went in. Also gave me 2010 Blackhawks vibes.
