They would still play the 2-3 winner

It's like a bracket. Look on NHL.com. They have it there.

Yeah. For the first time in 20 years we'll have a true bracket system. Teams are not re-seeded after round 1. Maybe that's what he was thinking.

Could be an interesting weekend. Wings/Canes and Jackets/TBL tonight. Wings and Jackets both have rest while the others played last night. Tomorrow Pens/Flyers will be huge for Flyers, Wings and Jackets.

eh it's out of my hands so no need to worry about it. Way too many things can happen over the next 3 days. If Wings win tonight and Jackets don't. If Jackets win and Wings don't. Then Philly and Jackets games tomorrow and Wings Sunday against the Blues. Just glad I don't have to worry about actually getting into the playoffs. Had to worry about that right up until the last day, last season. I'm so freaking excited for no 10pm starts. I was just thinking about that. Regulation games done by 10:30 at the latest is going to be great.

last year honestly was the only year that stung.

the team was in such shambles after the 09 series against the wings that there was literally no expectation.

it's funny to think about now because we would go to games just to see the best players on the other teams. we never expected the jackets to win. even last year, i dragged my one buddy to a march 6th game against the avs to see o'reilly, the jackets were the worst team in the nhl on that day but won in OT - they went 19-5-3 the rest of the season and missed the playoffs by a tie breaker. now me and a few of my friends who have been going to all of the games with me live and die with them :lol

Caps finally decided to turn it on when it's too late. Pummeling the blues and hawks is beyond awesome except for the fact they won't make the paloffs.

Caps missing the playoffs is most likely better in the short term. Will force the team to get in check with new personnel and a new coach. A coach that won't have jay beagle center a line with ovechkin and MoJo.

I have this feeling that Leonsis might do nothing. He'll use the Winter Classic to get 90%+ season ticket renewals, then he'll say something like "90+% of our season ticket fanbase likes the product enough to invest another year, so we owe it to them to stay the course" or some such nonsense

In all of the businesses that Ted Leonsis has owned, and there's been quite a few, he has NEVER, not even once, fired an employee that ranks as highly within a company as McPhee does. I don't think Dick Patrick will be going anywhere either

Hope so but I don't see it. I think Boston is just too physical and it'll be hard for Detroit to deal with over a 7 game series. Should still be an entertaining series, at least I hope. It should be a low scoring series.

So we agree. :thumbsup we all know an NHL goalie as elite as him can literally carry a team through the playoffs. Saying things like "well he hasn't won a cup yet" doesn't change that.

Love the Smyth stuff in Edmonton, Selanne in LA and loved watching the Bob Cole stuff on the NHL Network this morning. So happy I've been able to grow up near Canada to be able to watch CBC and Hockey Night in Canada. He is playoff hockey to me. Sounds like he's done after this year. NHL Network showed highlights of the Habs and Rangers and didn't say a word over it, just used the calls from Bob during the game. People talk about the McCarty goal from 97 and Gary Thorne calling it but I didn't have cable so had CBC over the air, although probably would have watched CBC instead anyways, but this is how I will always remember the biggest goal in Red Wings history.

I've never been more excited for an NHL season to come to an end. On fan appreciation day the Sabres will start their 6th different goalie (and half of their minor league squad). Best part is next season will be a repeat of this since they've openly talked about their desire to tank for McDavid. Woohoo!

Schedule out tonight?

Yeah it'll be out tonight. I'm sure they've got every scenario covered, just waiting for everything to be set.

If Detroit wins this game everything will be set. If STL wins then we have to wait and see what Colorado does

This Blues team isn't impressing me much today. If it's Hawks/Blues, I think the Hawks take it. Although they haven't looked good the last few games either but still expect Hawks to win in 5 or 6. Maybe Miller is struggling cause he's usually getting ready to golf right now.
