If HNIC is gone I will not be pleased. It is a sure thing for my Saturday pre-game.

HNIC was my Saturday night growing up. And not having cable when I was growing up, my only source of non-Red Wings playoff hockey and only source of hockey after the 3rd round since most of the games were on ESPN. Please don't make me watch Pierre even more often than I already do in the playoffs.

Little disappointed after Reimer played like the kind of the world on Saturday.

That was a severely banged up blue jackets team on the end of a 5 game road trip too. They were starting a d-man at wing who started the day as a healthy scratch. I could not believe that's how it played out.

Am I reading that right, that starting next season Rogers gets all of the Finals? So CBC gets nothing?

Ron Bergendy will be announcing curing on TSN this weekend haha.

I believe that is somewhat accurate. CBC will get half of the series' from each round, and Rogers will have the Cup. This is what I saw earlier, will look for confirmation.

It is also coming out that as of Thursday the NHL told CBC "Sorry, you're out", meaning they would have had nothing. They cut the deal with Rogers for 4 more years, although likely only one game a week as opposed to their traditional double-headers. Everything is still fluid though, and this may change. The CBC will pay nothing, but will have no control over the games they get or the on-air personalities and editorial content.

Edit: Some clarification... Under new deal, CBC can only show two games Sat. night, one early one late. No more multiple games for different regions. Rogers has them.

CBC will be airing the Stanley Cup Finals as well as Rogers.

Seems odd. That would be like NBC and ESPN airing it here in the US.

Agreed. The big presser is ongoing, so more keeps coming out, but that is how I understood the shakedown.

Datsyuk will not play Wednesday. Damn it. He's one of the most fun players to watch in person.

The absolute best person to watch play in person IMO is Patrick Kane. I had seats to a game about 10 rows off the ice last year and was just blown away by that guys skill.

If I could skate like he does I would never take my skates off ever :lol

Yeah, there could be a certain amount of homerism. Hopefully DB can see past that, as Johnson has just about everything you want for an Olympic depth defenseman.

Still feeling good about my USA roster, although I'm positive not all of them will make the team (USA's loss, says I)
David Backes
Dustin Brown
Ryan Callahan
Alex Galchenyuk
Patrick Kane
Ryan Kesler
Phil Kessel
TJ Oshie
Zach Parise
Bobby Ryan
Paul Stastny
James van Riemsdyk
Justin Abdelkader (replacing Legwand, the only guy on my initial roster who wasn't invited to camp)

Zach Bogosian
Erik Johnson
Jack Johnson
Ryan McDonagh
Kevin Shattenkirk
Ryan Suter
Keith Yandle

Craig Anderson
Ryan Miller
Jonathan Quick

Alright hockey fans I want some input. As you may have saw from my post the other day, going to Wings/Bruins tomorrow night. I will be tempted, and probably cave, to buy a shirt while I'm there. I want a Winter Classic jersey but I can't get myself to spend that kind of money for something I'll rarely wear. So I'm torn between these two.

Zetterberg Winter Classic jersey shirt:

Or either the tshirt or sweatshirt of this:

The Zetterberg shirt doesn't date itself the way the WC shirt does. But the vintage/nostalgic part of the Norris Rivalry is just cool.

I feel it is my obligation to veto all options and present a new one:

Agree with both of these :thumbsup Watching live you catch those subtle nuances of their game that sets them apart from everyone else in the league.

I think I might be willing to chip in a few bucks if it means seeing you in an Avalanche sweater.

Couldn't do it. Even with Sakic's name on it. A guy who I greatly respect.

More on today's media madness in Canada. Good news for me really, Rogers is exploring setting up some smaller Center Ice Packages. Ones to get all the Canadian teams, and furthermore one for each Canadian team independently. I could, in theory pay a (much smaller than normal) fee to "buy" all of the Oilers games, without having to pay for all the Coyotes games as well. This makes me excited and happy.

Once the sting of losing some great on-air talent subsides, this is going to be great for hockey fans in Canada. So much more hockey access.

I've always loved the idea of team-specific packages. Hope it works out for you, man. :thumbsup

I don't have cable. I watch the Leafs on Saturday night over my Xbox. I will not start paying for cable to watch the Leafs. I will lose my shit if I don't get at least one high res game a week. Or if I have to go out to the bar every game. fuck that.

I wouldn't either, my friend.
