Don't take it the wrong way in terms of how I think of Nashville's performance in any of these instances. They played well then, and they were the ones who got lucky and scored.

This happens pretty much every year with the Wings - they outplay their opponent for most of the game, but can't get anything in, and it's the other team who once they get some shots on net, they're the ones who always end up with the lucky bounces.

And now refreshing my memory, I'll take back my words about the first goal being fluky (the one that actually counted) - that was a great, clean goal. The other three, including the one that was wrongfully not counted, were two lucky bounces and appallingly sloppy play by the Red Wings. I don't discount Nashville at all in any of these instances; it's just that as someone who has been a Wings fan for 15 years, I'm so sick of the lucky bounces always going to the other team when we otherwise dominated.

I guess 4 Cups since 97 compensates for that, but still. It's frustrating as hell.

Seems to be the obvious choice to replace Hossa, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Morin either. It's certainly not Hayes that is going to replace him.

I'll be very interested to see the Shanny video on Torres. There is a hit on the boards before the puck goes to Hossa where the guy leaves his feet, than is apparently no big deal. Don't think Torres leaves his feet either. Definitely drives into the hit, but his feet come off the ice as he's recovering from contact. JMO. I'm sure I'll be called an idiot.

The Wings have pretty much sucked since early March this year, so a first round loss isn't too surprising. It does seem like there are an insane number of lucky bounces in the favor of the Predators, but the Wings got a couple of gifts tonight and still couldn't capitalize (1st Preds goal ruled no good).

I agree though, It's getting old as shit seeing the Wings make an early exit in the playoffs.

I didn't take it the wrong way..no worries. I just thought that two of them were just good goals and not so much fluky. I agree though that Detroit flat out outplayed us tonight and we're lucky that we've got a mean goalie in the net and in some cases luck was on our side. And yeah 4 cups does compensate for it so shutup:lol:lol

Obviously I'm kidding.

So apparently Neal's suspension was based solely on the Giroux hit and not the hit on Courturie, hence 1 game. Good work, BS!

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

To Hoke:

Agreed, they looked absolutely terrible at the end of the regular season and I wasn't all that amped about the playoffs thinking they'd exit early. And now that they actually decide to play hockey, it makes losing hard again. Losing both games at home is inexcusable. And I agree, they really failed to capitalize when they had so many golden opportunities.

I want to erase that game from my memory. I feel like I could just run down the street with a blood curdling yell to blow off some steam.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

The most frustrating thing is that the team, while older than most, is built to make a great playoff run. But with the injuries they have dealt with and some key players not performing like they should, it always ends up that we get our asses beat.

This year was THE year for the Wings to win the cup again. After that insane home winning streak I would've put money on the Wings winning it all. Then all of a sudden 1/2 of the team is hurt and we can't find a way to score to save our lives. So disappointing.

The NHL needs to put a rule in where a hit to the head is 5 games. If the guy doesn't have the puck it's 10. Penalties double each time you do it. We all know they won't.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Every season with the Wings, they seem to die down at the end. Then once the playoffs start they hit a new gear and its flat out playoff hockey every game. Tonights game didn't look like our intensity was there. Yes, we had the time of possession and a shit ton more shots. But I just don't see the intensity in the wings this year. Even the crowd looked like they were just going through the motions. I agree that the puck isn't bouncing our way, but you can't complain about that too much, its hockey and it happens to every team. I won't count the wings out yet. I think they could force a game 7 still and then anything goes. We will see.

Well yeah it definitely sucks to lose one of your best scorers. But who knows if he's done for the playoffs.

Certainly worked out well for Phoenix tonight but it was mostly just unfortunate. Have to have a little bit of luck to win and both sides have had it in this series at different points. 3 OT games just show how close these teams are.

Agreed with the closeness of the series but lets just put this into perspective

Hossa out for entire game and Torres is able to stay in on a clear as day head shot with skates off the ice to the head hit....and he gets carted out of a stretcher and the Yotes get a PP

Shaw out for rest of game in Game 2 and 3 fucking games because Smith is a fucking Soccer playing pussy and pretends to be hurt with a game misconduct and draws a 5 minute major....Just want to know at what point the Hawks will have to stop

For once we agree. I'm sick and tired of cheap shots dominating this year's playoffs

Preds 3 Red Wings 1. I believe we'll be finishing this one off Friday. And watch for the ping pong balls.

Damn Hawks fans, sorry about that lose.

Exciting night of hockey tonight, hope to see two teams eliminated (and the Rangers win, of course)!!

Let's hope we hear some good news about Hossa today. While it looked scary with all the stuff that they did, he walked out of the hospital 2 hours following the hit and on his own power, that says so much. And I do not stress this, he could have had the wind knocked out of him, be non-symptomatic of a concussion, and play tomorrow. Obviously we see how he feels today and see if he even practices, but if he had a concussion me thinks he would have stayed in that hospital a little longer than 2 hours.

Told ya the Wings would find a way to lose. Can't score and haven't been able to score for a month. When you can't score you can't make stupid mental errors and yet they still did, twice, and it caused both goals (that mattered). Fucking pathetic. I know the Preds are a good team but the Wings offense is sluggish and uninspired. Now we have the potential of a Coyotes/Preds second round. Can't wait for those 2-1 boring games in front of 11k people in Glendale.

Torres is a punk bitch. Enough said I think.

And again wow to the Panthers.

I would ask if there have been any Gordie Howe hat tricks in the Caps-Bruins series but you don't know what that is, so never mind.

I liked coach Q calling out the refs last night, he is right, theyve been a disgrace.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Unfortunately Q will probably fined and there will be no repercussions against the refs. At what point to we look at refs like regular employees? If I was to make an awful mistake at my job there'd be consequences, it seems that refs don't suffer any and no coaches are allowed to speak up when they do a poor job

Anyone hear Raffi's interview after the game? "I felt it was a good hockey play"

Cpl. Chris Bordoni will be honored at the Kings game tonight. I don't know if it will be televised though, hopefully.

Whats everyones guess as far as suspension?

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Depends on Hossa's condition. But I'll say 4 games.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Should be 10-12 games, probably will only be 5. Bullshit.

My guess is a 3 game suspension.

It's far from his worst hit, and far from the ugliest incident of the playoffs.

If the O/U was 5, I'd bet the under. The dumbest things about Shanny is the "injury" part of the suspension equation. I cannot find the full play now, but there is a clear charging penalty a few seconds earlier in the sequence, which someone just shrugged off.

I know you're pissed but that hit isn't a 10-12 suspension.

Trying to answer this without any bias.

Torres got a 2 game suspension earlier this year. So im gonna guess at least 5 games this time around.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

There are people calling for a 20+ game suspension for Torres.

He would be the PERFECT poster boy for a massive suspension. There were lots of eyes on the league last night for that hit. ESPN made it their cover story on their website with a picture of Hossa being carted off, Bettman was in attendance, Torres is a notorious repeat offender, etc. I can see him getting anywhere from 2-3 to 15-20.

What does that say about this system that Shanahan has going though? No one knows. It's a bullshit system, and it's broken. It's not even one year in and everyone knows that this system is crap. That's pathetic.
