Pens fans disclaimer: of course we are waaaay ahead of ourselves. But yeah if the Caps can finally beat the Pens and carry that momentum into a Rangers series, the story of will they choke against the other team that loves to beat them is a very obvious and easy selling story.

There will be endless "will the caps have an emotional letdown?" talk.

Right. Like Niskanen says, that's the narrative until they change it.

Yep and to be honest you can never tell in these things. Sometimes teams ride the momentum after something like that and then other times it's just "thank god we got that done." and they get a letdown.

Dumb dumb dumb that the WC games are on the same night and the EC games are on the same night. Split 'em up and double headers every day.

Vary vary dumb. I heard it might have had something to do with the order the first round finished in. More likely just the NHL being dumb.

Interesting addendum to the Pens going through Washington on all four of their Cup runs: the Pens lost Game 1 in each of the four series.

I havent looked forward but with the schedule adjust as these series get into games 5-6-7? So very stupid to not put one game from each conference on each night.

It goes back and forth. It's West/West and East/East a few nights and then they separate and we get some East/West and then back and then back again. So my guess is there is a reason in there somewhere. Whether it's TV or something at one of the arenas.

DC sports still have the Wizards playing, too. So it could have thrown off the schedule a bit. Wizards are home tonight, so they couldn't start the Caps tonight.

I forgot Wizards were still in it so there's that and could be a game 7 on April 30th back in DC, plus they might have talked to the NBA about a "what if" for if the Wizards get to round 2 and have those dates already marked off as "NBA days." There is usually some reasoning behind this stuff. They do a pretty good job coordinating all this stuff for the most part.

yeah, and it eliminates bitching if the series both go "x" amount of games and 1 team has extra rest due to playing "first"

They have to take that goal away from subban because it was clearly deflected in by wilson.

Scary stuff in St. Louis right now...

I really hope this is not a spinal issue. Don't like the looks of it though.

They were holding traction on his leg, so it was probably a femur break. Hate seeing that.

So up in the air at this point I could not pick a favorite. Hawks and Wild who we all thought were the frontrunners are out so I have to give an equal chance to Edmonton, Anaheim, St. Louis and fucking nashville.

My money is still on Chicago. When you have the pedigree and experience they do its an impossibility that they don't make a deep run

They changed it to wilson, I expect they will change his goal in the second period as well since it bounced in of one of his team-mates.

I think our occasional differences in opinion actually bring an extra bit of spice to our relationship. I will always love you.

Plus, when you've got a defense as deep as theirs...

This oilers ducks game is borderline boring

I must admit I spoke too soon about the Oilers

They're not a very exciting team to watch, in all honesty (save for McDavid of course) but they are hitting their stride right now

Edmonton power play is money too

Barbs may disagree with me (which is understandable) but if the Caps can get over the round 2 jump, I feel like that mental mountain will surpassed. Making and ECF matchup much similar. But who knows.....And who says the Caps can get over the Penns

Meh, this has been the narrative forever. Shit, this was the narrative that everyone in the industry was trying to push after game 3
