Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I actually kinda respect the fact that Doan was caught up in the moment and was that emotional about it. I like to see a guy care that much. Even as I read his postgame comments about the hit, I respected that he was going to stand up for his guy, even if he was wrong. He's going down swinging, just like the whole Coyotes franchise.

And yes, I know you're all waiting for me to weigh in ;): Brown's hit was legal. He did not lead with his knee, he made full body contact, and he didn't have enough time to pull up after the whistle. Hate to say Roszival get hurt, but it was not a dirty hit.

Which is precisely why he should STFU.

I see where you're coming from Erik, but he was fired up, disappointed, and hadn't seen a replay. Lots of emotions going through this guy's head to go along with a ton of adrenaline. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

He probably went home, watched the replay, and said, "oh..."

It goes back to what we've talked about before, most recently during the PHI/PIT series. Standing upn for your teammate is fine, but this whole "I must avenge the clean hit which unfortunately injured my teammate" thing has got to stop.

Edit: no he had probably not seen the replay, but That doesn't mean he had to get out his Jump to Conclusions mat.

It's easy for us as spectators to say he overreacted, but I know if I were in his position I would be fired up too. Also, it's not like that hit wasn't easy to tell it was clean, especially at live speed and without benefit of replay.

I didn't see him anywhere saying he was going to exact revenge or anything. Sure, he and the rest of the guys on the ice went after him after the hit, but it was nothing more than a scrum. The hit was big and hard to tell if it was clean there in the moment. I probably would've done the same thing out there.

Nowhere else did he say, "you'll get yours, Dusty Brown."

EDIT: ^ That we know of... who knows what was said in that handshake line :)

EDIT 2: And good to have you back, Erik. I thought we'd lost you after the SJ series.

If you aren't sure, why do you assume dirty? That's the mentality I don't like, that is very prevalent in the NHL.

I guess I myself was using my Jump to Conclusions Mat, assuming that's what he was saying in the handshake line. Maybe he was saying, "Hey, just so you know I'm gonna review that hit tomorrow and if I think it was dirty, you're getting fucked up next year" but I doubt it.

Pathetic. Rangers look to have nothing left in the gas tank. Hate losing to NJ, this will hurt hockey for me for a while if Ny can't dig their way out of this.

Going to need the best two periods of their season to comeback and win this one though.

I dislike both teams but this is a good playoff game.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Pretty devastated. Really don't think I can take a loss to the Devils. Totally fake fans that are only showing up now in the third round. Going to take a long recovery to get over this if the Devils clinch game 6. May take next year off from hockey as I did in '07 after the loss to Pitt.
