DC Cinematic/TV Marthaverse Fandom (DCUc)

I figured I'd start one of these like the Marvel thread - with all the DC stuff going on it would be easy for us to chat in one thread instead of having to make individual threads for every movie/TV show that DC has coming out.

I'm looking forward to:

Krypton - http://screenrant.com/krypton-tv-series-syfy-superman/
If it's anything like the opening of Man of Steel, it could be a solid watch. Lots of good stories from the House of El they could use.

Preacher (AMC) - http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/liv...-at-amc-753776
This looks promising, as well. I think it could be an interesting watch.

Arrow and Flash have been great - Arrow is much better, but Flash is a great watch.

I loved the old Smallville, a really great take on Clark Kent. Also, (for some of you older folks), Swamp Thing was great.

I'm still watching Gotham - oddly enough the character that interests me the most is Penguin.

I'm excited about the TNT live action take on Teen Titans, called "Titans" - it's long overdue to have Nightwing on TV.

Another one I've heard about that I'm interested in is Young Justice - http://www.comicvine.com/articles/cw...-/1100-147665/
There's a lot they can do with Superboy.

I've enjoyed Gotham. It's not great, but it's pretty good. And the Penguin is amazing.

Sandman is in development for a movie too. I've been reading that and absolutely loving it.

I'm going to read Preacher after I finish Sandman.

Pretty excited for Dawn of Justice. Sucks we still have another year and a half! Arrow is great and Flash has been just ok while Gotham became unwatchable for me after two episodes. The episode before the break was fantastic, and I hope we start seeing more episodes like that. As far as the rest of the TV shows they're announcing, or have rumored, none really interest me. Titans might be cool, but I'm afraid a show focused on teenagers will be too cheesy. But we'll see. If they're going to do all of this then these shows need to be quality shows, but I fear that won't be the case. I think WB is just trying to cash in on a popular trend right now which I think will be lessened due to over saturating the market. The more comic book shows and movies they do the more likely people will get tired of them. Especially if they are poor products.

I want to see DC succeed because I prefer reading DC vs. Marvel, but only time will tell. Having started reading Aquaman, I'm very interested to see him on screen. I've always wanted to see a Flash movie, so I'm psyched for that. I'm also pretty excited to see Affleck as Batman. I think he's going to do it justice.

Really looking forward to Dawn of Justice as well, but really excited to see David Ayer take on the Suicide Squad. I love the cast that they have announced for that movie, and it's going to be a great follow up that year after Dawn of Justice.

Forgot to include that. Very excited to see how that movie plays out. really interested to see a new interpretation of The Joker.

What I still just really don't get here within their overall approach is what they're doing between film and TV. I mean especially in the wake of obviously what Marvel's pulled off and their (relative, in areas) success, for DC to make a move where they have the character of Flash be in their cinematic universe, but at the exact same time they start up his own TV series, but that's got absolutely nothing to do with each other? Yea I get it that Arrow and the Flash exist in the same TV world, but I really think for the casual viewer they're just asking for confusion to have a totally different gut in Justice League.

Do you think the casual viewer is most likely to still check out the movie even if the show isn't in the same universe?

Bummed to hear that Hardy dropped out of the Suicide Squad, but sounds like they are looking at Jake Gyllenhaal as a replacement, which I would completely be on board with.

I've always found it odd when the same actor plays two different roles (i.e. Chris Evans in Fantastic Four as the Human Torch and as Captain America) within the same universe.

I'm totally cool with Gyllenhaal :thumbsup

Yeah, but at least it leaves the door open for him to play another character down the road too.

Then you have Affleck - Daredevil (Marvel) & Batman (DC)
Ryan Reynolds - Green Lantern (DC) & Deadpool (Marvel)

with Snyder directing, I believe it. Man of Steel was visually brilliant. Very excited for this movie.

And with practically two years to work on it, it should be. They started filming spring 2014 and it releases in 2016. This movie better be EPIC!

The search for Rick Flagg continues! Gyllenhaal has passed on the role.

Is anyone going to see Jupiter Ascending? I wasn't planning on seeing it, but I do like the Waschowskis, so I was undecided, but if there is a Batman v Superman teaser attached, I will definitely be going. Anyone else going to see it?

I'd just wait for it to make it's way online and save myself the money.

Welp...she is not ugly. But I still have very little interest in this one. You ever read Supergirl? Worth reading? I'm just afraid they may go too teeny bopper with this one. But damn that girl is attractive.

Not really. Would rather see a Superboy series, the background was more interesting. Or Krypton, which has more of my attention.

My vote would be for Bernthal, but two good options for Rick Flagg.

It definitely does, and I really like that David Ayer is at the helm as well.
