Really thinking about finally doing this. My wife and I both beat cancer in the past year (me for the 2nd time), and I feel like with everything else that has happened, we deserve a special “fuck yeah, we beat cancer” vacation.

Agree, celebrate those victories. If the two of you aren’t planning year 6 return trips on the flights home I’d be shocked.

@Bruce: a podcast recorded poolside this year? :)

I went to Barcelo in 2017 but haven't been to moon palace. For anyone that stayed in sunrise last year, did you find it quiet at night? or can u easily hear neighbors or other noises (airplanes, music, etc.)? I like my quiet when I'm ready to crash after the show.....I will likely go as a single and sunrise is the only option.

That would be incredible!

Unfortunately we don’t have $5k+ to drop on that haha

We went in 2018 and loved it. After this past year we decided we are not missing opportunities like this anymore if we can afford it.

Really happy to hear the food is better at this resort.

In my opinion, Moon Palace is better than Barcelo in every way except the beach and water. Barcelo water was mostly clean and blue. Moon Palace was brown with a ton of seaweed

That works for me. I live in South Florida but have never been a fan of the beach. Big fan of being at a bar and looking at the beach though.

Stayed at Sunrise in 2020. Very quiet at night.

Really tempted to go this time. Went in 18/19 and had a blast solo. Would be excited to check out the new resort and dining compared to Barcelo (solid though)

Seriously considering doing this for the first time. UK based, would be going with wife and daughters (8 and 11) and make a family holiday out of it…
To add extra nights, I assume the cheaper option would be to go for the 4 night package, and then book extra nights directly with the resort? Any feedback would be very welcome!

Does everyone that goes get posters from each night or just an event poster and you have to buy the nightly posters?

Also, how's the food.

Food is good, better than Barcelo. Also you don't just get posters. Gotta buy them separately

So what's the "official Dave & Tim merchandise gift"?

As to the posters, are there generally enough to cover all those interested or can they be tough to get?

Anyone have any experience with having to cancel the trip? I know the official CID policy, but I was wondering if anyone's had to deal with the hassle of not being able to go despite planning and paying...

oh, you've come to the right place, my friend. but first, the swag is always a towel (which are nice but seem to get thinner every year), a beach bag, which aren't great, and some other little things that don't amount to much (to me anyway). Year 1 we got metal water containers which were/are awesome and we still use, but nothing as good since (though can't tell you about 2019 swag which will tie into our experience with the cancellation policy). We spend 2-3 grand minimum per person, we can't get a t shirt or a poster? Anyway we still love it and I digress.

For the 2019 trip, we booked immediately of course, which was in fall 2018. We find out my wife is pregnant around the holidays, and suddenly we're out (Zika). We email CID, they say sorry, no refund, it's policy. My wife appeals to the Warehouse. Pregnant, both in the fan club for 20 years, loyal fans forever, etc. They reach out to CID on our behalf and they refund the money. Very gracious of The Warehouse and CID.

I think we had to have my wife's OBGYN provide verification thru an email or something. My point is, you'll need a pretty goddamn good reason to break thru their cancellation policy to get your money back if you want to cancel.

Story time over. Can't wait to go back!

I haven't been to one of these Mexico shows before but by chance I will be in Cancun on a large, extended family vacation at this time. I read in the FAQs that the only way to get access to these shows is by buying the entire vacation package, that tickets for the show only are not sold. From past years, is there any way around this? Do people sell off individual passes anywhere?

I'd love to see a show but the odds of us moving to the Moon Palace when we've already got another resort booked are slim to none.

There is zero way around it. Buy a package like everyone else.

If that were an option for me, I wouldn't be asking the question. I appreciate the attitude, though.

Wife isn't a fan of the band, but loves the beach. Have always thought about how to take advantage of that and partner with someone not staying there to optimize for both. Wife uses wristband during the day, someone else uses it for the shows. I'm a horrible person :)

Did you ask cid if you could sell or transfer your package?

Posters are just like every other show

Many people end up writing cid to sell and transfer their package and get permission to do so

I would always recommend buying trip insurance too. It’s around $200

Now, people have found their way around this
A few wristbands end up for sale but they have to be sold to other hotel guests
