I hear you on the boyd bit, though i've tried to transition my perspective of the band as needing the violin because too frequently i ended up disappointed in the result. Now i just want a NEW sound from them.... something totally different.

I've been watching songs on YT from The DMB Tribute Band. It's further clarification that the actual band needs it.

No, no, no. We have enough Dave solo opportunities already and we've seen Dave solo almost exclusively (save for the WH with Carter) since early 2020.

i want to be as surprised about a DMB song as i am about coloratura from colplay. i don't even know how i feel about it. i don't want to be able to digest it in a single sitting. in fact, i hope i just feel like the new album is weird. best chance there is that we'll grow into it.

DG has consistently put out good music. Wish the same could be said for DM.

Just dug up the email from the Warehouse (Subject: A Note From Dave) with the link to Gaucho. Received Fri, May 18, 2012 at 7:20 PM. So maybe there is still hope for some new music today . . .

I think i agree. chris martin is just so unapologetically chris martin. i heard him say once that all of their songs are about hope and love and the human spirit. easy to mock but also kinda cool.

Yeah, Tim clearly loves Peter Gabriel...this and his In Your Eyes clips (the YouTube one and the debut at SPAC w/ Dave) are total labors of love.

As a huge Gabriel fan, I would love at least an album's worth of these arrangements/performances.

I happen to love the new sound though and though it's not the old DMB, it's still fun and I think they do some pretty interesting stuff still. The longer Buddy hangs out the more they're going to be able to accomplish. They really seem to love him as part of the band, not as a side man.. I would expect him to be a large part of the new album.

There will be new songs tonight. There is zero doubt of that. The frustrating part will be them playing these new songs while we all wait a month or two before the album is announced.
