According to ASCAP, Dave and Ballard co-wrote a song called Connecting to Nature, which was released on the Grand Canyon Adventure soundtrack in 2008.

Connecting To Nature is just a version of The Space Between arranged by Steve Wood and Stefan Lessard. Nothing to do with Dave or Ballard (other than the fact that they wrote the original)

After quietly hyping the album more than 8 months ago to having complete silence now, I’m becoming less and less optimistic about actually getting a new album any time soon. The longer Dave has material sitting around waiting to be completed/released, the more time he has to scrap it/second-guess it, and it is starting to feel like that’s what is going on here.

I am the opposite. I think we get a single Friday night 7/23 Gaucho style with album announcement for fall release and they play the single that night. If that doesn't happen, I don't see an album in the near future. All depends what happens on the first night of the tour for me.

I wish they'd do a surprise album drop. Similar to what Taylor Swift did. Screw trying to go for 8 albums in a row of being the top release. It might even still accomplish that for a surprise drop.

i think it's either this or they are really trying to just drop it on us out of no where. seems less likely that they're going to have it finished and just continue to sit on it. who knows.

I would love to wake up one morning and BAM! new DMB album, but that would probably be the most shocking thing this band could do at this point... would be completely out of character. On the other hand, recording music and never releasing it is right up their alley!

The most shocking thing this band could do is release an album full of amazing songs like Busted Stuff. Very unlikely, but I suppose still within our solar system realm of possibilities.

I mean...they do. Pretty much everyone in the band has acknowledged that there is an album coming. We're just waiting for the official announcement.

I've been hopeful of this for literally months now. Every Friday morning the first thing I do is open 'new releases' in Spotify and look for a new DMB album.

But with the timing of the tour and the tight-lipped approach from the band/management to this point, I'm with others thinking they'll drop a single the day before or day of tour opener, and provide some more of the details we've been craving since October.

My guess is they'll make us wait til Fall, because this management is still stuck in the 90's/00's mindset that October/November are when big albums come out... PLUS it will give them a reason to tour in the winter.. They don't need any additional reason to tour this year since we'll all pay $250 a ticket to watch Dave pick his nose after no shows last year.

I never thought we'd get Dave playing Pig, Up & Away, Break For It, etc... on those XM shows. It gave me hope that the new album might be less commercial and more what Dave wants to play irregardless of label/ trying to get #1, singles etc... SO IT COULD HAPPEN! But unlikely. I would still love those rare songs to make more appearances AND in front of a live audience not a screen.

We don't need a single. I'dtake/ love 8 really good DMB esque songs that aren't radio friendly.. that might be 5-8 minutes, have fully formed intros, jams, segues, outros etc...

Over 13 3.5 minute songs that are trying to sell 1 million copies... that sound NOTHING like DMB and 3 of them are intro/outro songs

I think it's more in the realm of parallel universes, if you subscribe to that sort of thing. Unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath for a good album from this band in our universe, let alone our solar system.

And I understand there are a wide range of opinions on this forum regarding what constitutes 'good music.' To clarify, when I say "good album," I'm referring to what most of the 'old-schoolers' would consider good: The Big 3 and the LWS/Busted Stuff. And maybe a handful of tunes past the release of Busted Stuff. And I'm being generous with the term 'handful.'

This band has A LOT of raw musical talent, Tim may even rise up to the occasion, so possibly could Dave as a songwriter and lyricist one more time. There's enough there in all the right places that I do put it in our solar system.

They haven't made a good DMB album since BTCS.. That's not to say I don't enjoy Everyday, BW etc.. It's just they are not DMB albums. With only 3 OG members left and what sounds like a Rob Evans production.. Which just means he is manning the controls and editing... I'm also not holding my breath for the next best DMB sounding album.. though we may get some good music out of it.

DMB (read Dave) needs to be pushed/challenged in the studio by a producer for the album to be good. Lillywhite and Cavallo (sort of) did this it seems. Ballard, Batson, etc do not do do this from what I’ve seen/heard. So we then end up with the band (Dave) surrounded by pions and yes men who just want to be on Dave’s good side and not actually give him constructive feedback. So Dave gets lazy with lyrics/writing and then later he’ll start to overanalyze things, making them worse (usually).
