Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
All the shows in this bands wide range of releases and they play gorge 19 over and over. This station is sometimes cool but it’s never close to be fully utlilized.

It will never be fully utilized because money is the motivating factor for management/dmb. Right now you have 51 live trax and other various live comps on the bands website that goes right to management/bands pockets for the cost about about 1-2 months cost of a Sirius XM Subscription If you're too cheap for that you can sign up for a streaming service like Spotify or Apple Music and stream Live Traxs 1-30 and other various dmb music studio and unreleased. Subscriptions vary from free to about $0-$10 at month and the band gets pennies per stream But if you want a radio station that play DMB Music along with some artists picks across the music world it can cost you free for a trial or between $4ish to $20ish for various subscriptions. Problem is that money is for packages for many channels and the revenue the band takes in is less than streaming or fans buying from the store. If giving away the house on Sirius XM radio got them more money than fans buying the products directly through the fan website then you would see some immaculate content 24 hours a day. But there is no upside financially in creating a top notch radio channel when there is limited ROI. The band doesn't operate like Phish or Pearl Jam or the GD when it comes to Satellite radio. |

That’s too bad.
That gorge show is unlistenable. His voice is terrible and seek up has regressed so much it’s sad. The horns ruin it |

Copperpot is the real MVP of current DMB content during this time. He's touched up some shows and released some new shows as well on his various pages. Even corrected the audio issues on the Dave Solo Grey Street last week. He's doing it all at no cost and has a youtube account without monetization. |

He hosted a live YouTube watch party of the 8/23/04 show from NM where Tim guested on 4 songs. He finally found a full length tape of the entire show. It was incredible |

I still gotta watch back the whole thing i peeped in for a little at the beginning. That's the type of content management is hoarding and will slowly drip for us as they release a few mediocre shows like the hollywood bowl LT 51 (A Poor mans LT 42 which was also from 2007 and far superior to 51) before the occasional gem of a live trax like live trax 47. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
I'd like to see them play some of those Dave and Tim Mexico shows we don't have tapes for. Would love to hear those shows with Brandi/Trey/Warren especially.
Huge bummer we don't have real recordings of those. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
Anyone who knows what Friday night shows are coming next in May?
|
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
It's a bland show on paper but I'd love the Beale Street Music Fest show from last year. I. know it'd be scoffed at by anyone not there but I'd really like to hear it again. It was the most fun I'd had at a DMB show in probably five years.

Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
Yeah, I don't know why people are expecting new shows for May. DMB Radio is just replacement programming for a MLB play-by-play channel that Sirius obviously doesn't need right now. They're not going to pour a lot of resources into this channel. At least they had one extra show recording sitting around, but I wouldn't expect anything more than that Mohegan show.

Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
With the likely tour delay, I would imagine SOMETHING that isn’t released already comes out as part of Friday series. Or maybe they release a digital-only live trax, I dunno

They're playing Spac 2019 this Friday (tomorrow)? I thought it was supposed to be Camden...

Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
Love having this channel back, but every time I turn it on Cortez or Maker are playing.

This. previously unrelased Mohegan 18 show and Verizon Dave Solo show were special drops to get people looking at the channel but new relases wont be the Friday night norm. Given that there are no sports they swapped in DMB radio to the channel for the time being. Now that it looks like we won't see live concerts for the entire summer/fall 2020 the channel will drop a ton of previous Friday shows from 2018 and 2019 for the time being. Maybe at best the band will allow 3 to 4 unreleased buddy strong era shows if that. The band doesn't give away the house like Pearl Jam or GD radio. They are cheap and want fans to buy the releases on the WH store; not listen to tons of bonus content on DMB radio. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
So, any idea of what show they'll be playing this Friday night?
|
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
The guide lineup thing says "Live in Noblesville" so I'm guessing Friday night from DC last year. But, pretty sure the guide said Camden last week. Anyone heard any promos?

Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
Can you imagine the panic at SXM studios when they realize they haven’t played Cortez the Killer in over an hour.
|
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
I looooove Cortez the Killer. #LoVE it.
But if I see it pop up on the Sirius channel again, I'm dropping my free subscription out of spite. |
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
It would be cool if they aired an unreleased show for each venue that was supposed to be played this tour. But I'm not getting my hopes up.
|
Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
I heard a promo today saying this week's show was the '19 Camden show.

Heard Camed 6.14.19 as well...

Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel
I mean would expect that even if they did choose a diff show, it would be one that doesn’t have anything crazy unique about it like a song rarely played and/or released on a $$$ paying live release by current incarnation of the band....that’s just common business moves from bands like DMB who typically release 1 show per tour for mass consumption. Keeps folks interested in buying the official release - gotta think of Sirius dmb radio as what it is: a promotional tool for the band. That said, we’ve gotten some cool stuff from these like the only true pro high quality audio of graves with the wonderful tonight interpolation by Dave (I just think it’s fun) as well as some killer by current bands standards renditions of some of the jammier songs
