Re: Dave Matthews Band to Launch Limited-Run SiriusXM Channel

I am thinking about creating and sharing a special compilation a-la Warehouse, as the best of 2022.
I will use only high quality sources as SXM streams, webcasts and good tapes.
I am looking for suggestions. This is what I have so far.

1. Fool in the Rain (09.02.2022, The Gorge, broadcast)
2. Fool To Think (07.15.2022, Camden, NJ, broadcast)
3. Proudest Monkey (06.03.2022, Charleston, SC)
4. Squirm (09.16.2022, Chula Vista, CA, broadcast)
5. Under African Skies with Angélique Kidjo (4.06.2022, Hollywood, broadcast)
6. You Can Call Me Al with Angélique Kidjo (4.06.2022, Hollywood, broadcast)
7. Sweet (07.15.2022 , Camden, NJ, broadcast)
8. Crush (05.20.2022, Charlotte, NC, broadcast)
9. Break Free (5.13.2022, The Woodlands, TX, broadcast)
10. Lover Lay Down*(09.09.2022, Greenwood Village, CO, broadcast)
11. Pay for What You Get (07.22.2022, Raleigh, NC, broadcast)
12. Seek Up (06.10.2022, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, broadcast)
13. So Right (07.08.2022 - SPAC, Saratoga Springs, NY, broadcast)
14. Dancing Nancies > Warehouse (06.10.2022, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, broadcast) (or 05.20.2022, Charlotte, NC)
15. The Dreaming Tree (5.13.2022, The Woodlands, TX, broadcast)
16. Lie In Our Graves (feat. Derek Trucks) (06.07.2002, Jacksonville, FL, Henry Hart’s tape)
17. Too High (02.18.2022, Cancún, MEX, broadcast)
18. All Along the Watchtower with Mike McCready (11.04.2022 Seattle, broadcast)

What do you think? Anything outstanding that I am forgetting?

Were there any notable performances of Break For It? I'm a fan of that tune and happy to have it back in the rota somewhat. Its reemergence was part of the story of 2022 for me.

Good list but i think its missing something from mansfield. BOWA was pretty good and only one of 2 played on the summer tour

I second that break for it should be included
Also grey street, I’m still ecstatic the third verse is back
Also the maker, I thought it sounded really good this year
And what about the triumphant return of two step?
Virginia in the rain would be cool too
A nice shortened Jimi thing would be refreshing

Apologies if I’m making this more sprawling than you intended, those are just some songs that stood out to me.

6/10/22 from the sirius show. It should be included IMO as well.

Three performances to choose from:
5.13 The Woodlands
5.20 Charlotte
6.10 Cuyahoga Falls
… and yes, I love too the fact that it was played again

Okay for that.

I also think I’ll remove Crush. En each version I listen I cannot help but noticing Buddy doing glissandos again and again (6 or 7 of them). Once you notice that once, you cannot avoid to hear only that, and it is so annoying. It really ruins the song for me

I think Seattle from the fall tour is the premier crush. Although i havent compared to MSG which was the next sirius one after that but there was something about that seattle one that was HOT.

DIDO from mansfield was pretty hot too, but i think there was a flub at the end. The intro is cut off a bit on the current one sirius was hosting, but i think your cut got the whole build up with Dave noodling/teasing the beginning.

EDIT 2: I actually think SPAC might be a better one that was broadcast.

It would be great to have #41 from SPAC (this was played because it was their 41st show there if I remember correctly).

I was there and I didn’t like it. This version of the song with Tim slowing down is not for me

I can put SPAC’s DIDO, but it wasn’t so extraordinary for me

Many interesting suggestions.
The bolded ones mainly:

About the other ones, my honest opinion is that 2022 Two Step is far from his glory. I don’t really like the way they are playin’it now.
I need to listen again those Hollywood Bowl tapes, for the Ann Marie tunes. Do you have a particular tape in mind?

Is there a good version of Madmans Eyes too?

Or is that a problem as there is no official release yet?

Would agree with you on your opinions comparatively to the heights these songs used to be played at. #41 and Two Step have fallen from epic songs and certainly feel like songs they are playing to appease the crowd. I still enjoy them, but the end of 41 is pretty confusing. It just takes the wind out of the sail with whatever Tim is doing. Even HE does not seem all that enthused by it.

I chose the rest as showcases strictly for 2022 alone. As a snapshot of the best of this year. But it is your playlist of course! Just suggestions.

I only have the hollywood tape thats on Dreamingtree. I am not sure if there were multiple tapers. It's pretty good quality. Though in a mix of those official releases, they might be jarring.

Think the Sirius shows captured a few of them! Don't think if we're sharing this playlist amongst ourselves for free it would cause an issue. The new songs are already being downloaded with these tapes by us.

I'd like to include all the new tunes, but it's Xcacel's baby!

That Deer Creek listing is pretty much always there. Not saying the show will be broadcast, but the fact that Deer Creek is listed isn't evidence that it won't be.

I'm going to assume not.

I imagine could be contractual things with the Super Bowl folks that might prohibit it.
