Wow, I've never heard that before. That's one of the cooler things I've heard from this band in awhile.

Warehouse was only played 8 times during the Summer 2012 tour

New random thought: Is anyone here familiar with LIOG from 6/5/97?? My buddy and I used to get real high and jam out to it in college, which was like fifteen years ago. And I just came across it and can't stop listening. I have never heard Bela bust out anything better!! Anyone out there know what I'm talking about?

Sweet is under appreciated. I really like it.

I know Dave always says it's about his son learning how to swim, but I think there's more to it...

I'm not sure if it's that exact version but have heard an amazing Lie in Our Graves from june-july 97 with Bela and totally blew me away....

thats what i thought too. so i don't know if im missing something (listened to it a few times and still dont get it) or if people will just eat up anything this band does and say its amazing because its a soundcheck song that we never heard before. i remember a few years ago there was something like this that was just awful and people were going crazy over it saying there was so much potential to it when it was like 1:30 of random noodling.

The Riff is the best DMB song post Busted Stuff. What a powerful and passionate song. It's the Dreaming Tree of Away from the World for me. Hoping to get a ton of it live in 2015. Really fires me up and gives me the chills at a show.

People tend to have a habit of getting over-excited about stupid shit with DMB. We even have a fun little moving picture to go with it!

The ending run of Gorge N3 '02 is absolutely incredible, both in performance and set-list.

Lie in Our Graves
Lover Lay Down »
Grace Is Gone
The Dreaming Tree [aborted] »
All Along the Watchtower
-----------------------------------
Long Black Veil
Halloween
The Last Stop [tease]
Tripping Billies

That Lie in Our Graves might just be the greatest of all time...definitely my favorite

I was not sure of the etiquette in this thread but yeah, the riff last year I thought was funmy bad. Really any version actually for me.

I know folks that love it though so, more power to anyone that loves anything.

i don't know how people DON'T like the riff. its one of the few songs of the last few albums that has some emotion to it.

that dreaming tree interpolation in stefan's solo that leads into the attempted performance of the full song is bad ass. i would love to hear a full version played like that. that dirty bass line, electric guitar instead of acoustic, it would be like a rock version of dreaming tree.

The Riff live is lacking all the emotion and power it has on AFTW. The Riff is my favorite track off of AFTW. It's just not good live, and that disappoints me, it might be one of the biggest disconnects DMB has between live and studio. I, too, thought it was a modern day Dreaming Tree or Stone esque song. Since Busted Stuff, easily a Top 5 song (studio), IMO.

Did this song ever get figured out? Like is it just a soundcheck session or an actual song?

the biggest problem i have with sweet is that the band plays on it for like 35 seconds. when they finally come in, that groove is awesome, and its gone before you know it. they really should jam that out a bit.

and there is definitely more to the song than just his son learning to swim.

nobody has any idea about that. considering how structured it is, i would say its an actual song, but it just never saw the light of day other than this clip.

I've always thought Sweet has an addiction vibe in its lyrics.

I like Why I Am, a lot. I obviously have no clue why they actually close with it, my opinion is A. As a tribute to LeRoi. 2. DMB 3.0 likes the fast "rock" vibe, bang out the closer/encore like real quick, a la Grey St. D. Easy to sing along to and keep the crowds attention.

2012 was an underrated year for Pig. Some great performances, especially from the AFTW DVD.

Ehh, not that great of a year for Pig, IMO. The AFTW DVD one is ok. Dave's vocals/delivery/voice not that strong for this song in recent years. And Boyd is most times way off.

2002, some 2003 (when Boyd was in tune), and 2004 were the strongest years for Pig.

tyler3440 04-19-2015 12:41 PM

Re: Random dmb thoughts that don't need its own thread

2014 was the worst year for pig. Boyd was so bad.
