Great story last night for the Hawks! I would have loved to be at that game!

Yeah that backup goalie story is awesome, and a shutout for him too!

Also, god dam Sid.

That was just plain sick and he just netted a similar goal last week. No idea how he has that good of hand eye coordination. Crosby is just an amazing player to watch, gives you so many 'wow, how the hell did he do that' moments it amazes me.

EDIT: Make sure to watch his post game interview.

That was pretty crazy, he had to be nervous but damn did he play well against a damn good team.

Unreal, it is like the Hawks have been playing rotating goalies since before Christmas when Crawford went down. He just slammed the door on the Jets too. He had to be both excited and nervous, not to mention caught up in the moment after the crowd had been going crazy the whole game after that ceremony honoring Brent Seabrook's 1,000th game for Chicago.

From the highlights it really seemed like the crowd understood and got up for this guy. He said he kinda blacked out, which I totally understand!

They were up on there feet going crazy right from the pre-game ceremony to honor Seabrook but took it to a whole different level when Foster came in to close out the Jets.

Great sports day for me, started with the Yankees game where Stanton was amazing, then watching Crosby bat in that amazing OT goal, then seeing that tribute to Seabrook, then seeing the Hawks blow out a damn good team and lastly seeing Foster raise the roof at the UC. What a great sports day I had.

I know the Hawks had a bad year but in terms of milestones it has been pretty cool to watch - DeBrincat getting 3 hat tricks in his rookie season, Kane getting to 800 career points, Kane getting to 500 assists, seeing so many young players get their first points in the NHL and last but not least Toews being one of 3 players to score 20 goals in a season for 11 years straight - other 2 are Ovechkin and Kane. Sucks they won't be in the playoffs but it was a fun season watching so many milestones hit by the Hawks players.

That save he made on Stastny was, like, a legit NHL save (about 1:38 of the video below). So much fun to hear the crowd just go nuts whenever he made a stop. And good on all the Blackhawks players who acted like he'd just won them the Stanley Cup when the game ended.

You might just end up seeing him in net tonight against the Avs! :)

It would certainly be an interesting match up. If he is in net and plays well your offense will have to be ready to get out of that funk they have been in, this could well be a make or break game for Colorado's playoff chances because I think if the Hawks win tonight the Avs are sunk.

Best part? His elite prospects page goes from Western Michigan University in 2006 to the fucking Chicago Blackhawks in 2018.

Also love that he clearly had on gear you'd see in men's league. That shitty Vaughn neck protector :lol

Nah, that's right. Only played one game that season and let in like 3 goals on 9 shots or something.

Re: The NHL Thread (Golden Knights are alright)

Hey Matty, not to take anything away from the Avs but is there some odd officiating going on in this game?

Early on CO got a power play because one of their guys skated into the goalies (Delia was in net, for the time being anyhow) outstretched leg and it was called a trip and Kane had to serve that one.

Then Compher and Murphy get into a fight behind the Chicago net and they just give both players a 2 minute minor for roughing instead of a 5 minute fighting major. Frankly since Compher punched Murphy to start the fight CO should have been given an extra penalty for instigation.

The high stick by Kampf was a legit call I agreed with which lead to a 4 on 3 after that fight I mentioned.

Also, I saw at least two trips on CO players (one on MacKinnon) that were not called.

This is just bizarre, it is like they are using a bunch of rookie refs and linesmen.

I am only asking because I assume you are watching and I am curious about what you think.

At a wedding south of Philly and the father of the bride pulled out a Crosby jersey during his speach. Never saw the father of the bride get booed so harshly before :lol

Re: The NHL Thread (Golden Knights are alright)

I’ve only caught the third period so I couldn’t really say. Sounds like If they are missing calls, at least they are missing them on both sides.

Just saw Varly go down. Man, how bad would that suck if they lose him for an extended period and it happens at the end of a 4-0 game?

Lcsulla 03-30-2018 11:39 PM

Re: The NHL Thread (Golden Knights are alright)

Yeah, I hope Varly is OK - he went down hard and it did not look good at all.

I have nothing against CO at all but the officiating was atrocious and I have no reason at all to BS you!

Varlamov out for the season and Erik Johnson for 6 weeks. Big ouch.

Just saw that about Varly and was sorry to hear about it, that is a tough break for you guys. Chicago is not a dirty team (no penalty was called on jurco) seemed to me that Varly just got knocked down in a mad scrum in front of the net and got run over and injured unfortunately.

I cannot say much about Johnson because frankly I do not know much about him but it always sucks to lose a solid D man.

If your team isn’t in the playoffs and you still choose to root against Vegas, you’re an asshole face.

Wow, what a day to be a fan.

Pittsburgh clinched a playoff slot, though I hope taking Kessel out at the end after that slash was precautionary.

Wild got their butts kicked by Dallas.

Buffalo clobbered Nashville.

Matty should be happy the Yotes are owning the Blues plus with the wild loss it makes the Avs road to the playoffs easier.

Wings get the crap teams to end the year to hurt their chances at #1. CBJ is the only good team coming up.

Flyers blew a late lead in a hilarious exhibit on how to not kill the clock at the end of the game allowing the Bruins to tie it with3.8 seconds but still won in OT. Things are looking up! Magic number is now 3, can clinch on Tuesday
