Come to an American team, McDavid. We’ll show you how to win your trophy! (I know this post will now mean Oilers will win the next 4).

You know, I thought when 'your' team makes it to the championship series in any given sport that it would be fun....

The one thing that I have realized over the course of being a Rangers fan, and caring about that team more than anything else, is that the playoffs stop being fun as soon as you have any expectations from your team. Other than the game I was at in round 2, I didn't enjoy watching a single Rangers game. I probably have not enjoyed a Rangers playoff game on TV since 2014 when I had no expectations of them beating Pittsburgh and they came back from 1-3. As soon as you start to believe in your team, it becomes pure stress and pain. It is not enjoyable or fun in any way.

However, as a Red Sox fan, I can tell you once your team wins (especially more than once) the stress, anxiety and pain are greatly reduced, and it does become fun again. I don't stress about the Sox at all anymore, but I have also seen them win 4 titles (2 of which I lived in Boston for). They could never win again in my life, and I would die perfectly happy.

As for this series: this is definitely highlighting how good the New York Rangers were this year and how tough Florida is to play against. I know a lot of Western Conference fans were very high on the Oilers, but this series is going exactly as I assumed it would. I had Florida in 5 I believe, but honestly, they might sweep unless Edmonton gets a big home push. Wild that NY could have been up 3-1 on this Panthers team (and were up 2-1). In hindsight, that is an amazing accomplishment from NY. These Cats are so frustrating to play against.

I do hate that the NHL is becoming a modified trap, overly physical, shutdown game again at the expense of skill. I mentioned that in my previous posts, but as the playoffs go on, the calls stop coming and teams like Florida are always going to bully and outshine skill teams like the Oilers, Rangers, and Leafs. The Panthers remind me of the 2014 Kings to be honest. When the Rangers lost that series all I kept saying for years after was that NY needed to get bigger and tougher. We still have not figured that out.

Hopefully you donít pull a Kings/Rangers type series. Best of luck in Edmonton.

It ain't over yet, they just got a big reality check with an unstoppable defense.

Will be interesting to see if Barkov recovers and is in the lineup Game 3.

Pretty much but I still wish they were still playing.:lol:lol

Like I said winning is hard. Carolina and Florida were both top teams.

Saw a stat that they had ONE "high value chance" on goal during 5 on 5.

Gotta love that D (or so they say).

It was fun listening to Bill Burr go off on how boring the Panthers are making hockey again. He said this reminds him of the 1995-2003 Devils and their trap. I definitely agree and have been saying that. He asked why they don't just outlaw the trap and I guess he didn't realize that was what they tried to do with removing the two-line pass rule. That said, if you want to get rid of today's trap, just call the game the same way you do mid-season and the Panther's game would be ruined because they would be shorthanded all the time. Alas, that is not the reality of playoff hockey in the NHL though so good for Florida for understanding that.

Apparently they are punting on names until next year. Awful decision. Not a great start. Giving major District 9 vibes.

I reckon that goal ends the Oilers season. Can't see a path to 4 goals tonight, and sure as shit don't see a path to winning 4 straight.

Fuck.

It was bound to happen eventually. There has not been a sweep since 1998 in the NHL. We were overdue.

Last time both NBA and NHL were sweeps in same season was 1995.
