For me, I'd rather have the States do better than Russia (but just barely). I know it's not very "Olympics" of me, but I'm pulling for a massive Russia face-plant on the ice, akin to 2010.

Yeah I used to feel the same way when the Wings had all the Russians. Now it's Sweden. I still remember the headline from 2006 "Red Wings 3, Finland 2" when the Wings scored all the Sweden goals in the gold medal game.

Some shots of what the new arena (and entertainment complex) are going to look like in Edmonton. It got its final approval today - shovels in the ground in March, ready for the 2016 season.

Anyone up watching the US/Canada women's game? Our ladies are flying out there. Incredible team speed and a strong, well-rehearsed breakout. Good thing our friends from the north have an incredible goalie.

I'm not sure what they were just reviewing. That was odd. It clearly went in so not sure there. If it was the whistle, which can't be reviewed, the whistle did go before it went in so...ok. Have no problem with it being called a goal just not sure what they were doing.

Well that'll do it. Canada really took it to them early in the 3rd and then once they got rolling US couldn't respond.

Yeah they were outplayed early badly the first 15 or so. That bad goal really ended up hurting them but Canada earned the win for sure.

seriously, I love Kevin Dineen, but there should be no reason why he should be yelling at the ref for US extra timeout. The amount of times they got away with too many (wo)men on the ice was ridiculous.

Missed the game as I was stuck in traffic. My normal 20min commute took 3hrs this morning. Sounds like we won on a shady goal :lol

No not shady. The game winner was fine, although the ref got in the way just before it but not sure that changed anything. The 2nd goal was a bad one by the US to let in. The refs did miss two too many players on the ice penalties against Canada. Still an exciting game.

Price goes in the first game for Canada, Bobby Lou in the 2nd.

Everyone kind of assumed this would be flipped, just to just Luongo a "thanks" for backstopping the gold medal game - doesn't make much difference anyway.

While I don't want to look past, or discredit the Austrian and Norwegian teams, those games should not be much more than a glorified scrimmage for the squad. First real test should be Sunday vs. Finland.
