This is a nightly occurrance.

I'm serious when I say Claude Giroux should be benched. His lack of coverage on Jordan Staal's game tying goal was short of Ovechkin/Xbox controller coverage.

How long until Claude is traded to the Blues?

Think the Sharks are suffering from FOLTB (Fear of Losing to Buffalo) tonight.

This whole "Sharks coming out of the gates hot and then sucking" thing feels like deja vu for some reason....

Oh wow. The Sharks just put a puck a foot into the net in OT, it showed clearly on the overhead view, and the play was never even reviewed.

Weird night. Didn't deserve any points, found a way to get one point, robbed of a second point by Toronto, and we weren't even playing the Leafs.

Ouch, yeah, Sharks got robbed.

It's one thing robbing a goal, it's another thing robbing the GWG in OT.

The Caps pp is so good right now. It's like even though other teams know exactly where they're gonna go with the puck, they can't do anything about it

Well, I guess (as the old saying goes) you throw enough shit on the walls, something is bound to stick. It also helped we played the Panthers.

ESPN and TSN need to update their standings page. Gotta setup a Wild Card tab. While division standings are important it's only important for the top 3.

I'm honestly curious, I know the Flyers have been bad....but is this basically their story all season or was tonight exceptionally bad?

They are just plain bad. I mean offensively at least. They're in the top 10 in goals allowed. (In the good way.) Mason and Emery (when he's not being guys down) have been pretty good (save for that Wash game).

The Flyers simply don't try hard enough and are missing any semblance of scoring touch. 14 games in, 0 goals for Giroux. And while it's not the best comparison, they have scored 35 (THIRTY FIVE!) fewer goals than the NHLs highest scoring team, the SHarks

And Tootoo is on waivers. Not at all surprised. Too bad cause I kinda liked him but Wings have too many guys who can do more than he can. Guys like Miller and Eaves can play 5 on 5 and pk and can even play in the last minute and not be a liability.

I can't believe that call.

But then again, they got themselves into a OT against Buffalo, so....

Absolutely true. And the players will be the first to tell you that. However, a goal was not counted, and as a result, we lost out on both a point and a ROW in the standings, which in the Pacific could be huge come April.

The West is looking pretty strong right now. 8 teams with 20+ points and the East only has 4.

League office took the pussy way out, claiming there was intent to blow the whistle. If you watch all the replays, this is obviously a lie. And it demonstrates why "intent to blow the whistle" should be eliminated from the rule book. Too easy to manipulate. It should be like the NFL. Play is live until the whistle makes a sound.

Downie was playing well when he was traded, bottom line. You generally aren't going to trade a guy who is playing well unless you think your return is going to be better. I honestly think the Avs looked at their roster, realized how young and inexperienced they are, and saw this as an opportunity to bring in a good voice. Are they losing one of their top 6 in exchange for someone who will play bottom 6? Yes, but when you've got effing Nathan MacKinnon and PA Parenteau playing on your third line, you can afford the loss. I'll say it again, Talbot was brought in for attitude more than skill. They have skill aplenty, but Stanley Cup winning attitude? Uhhh.... JS Giguere and.... uh.... exactly.

Compared to the talent they already have on their roster, the price wasn't that high to pay for a guy like Talbot. He's exactly the type of piece you want to add when you're serious about winning, and the Avs recognized that.

Meh, training camp. Tempers flare. Hockey players are big boys. 9/10 times they get over it.

I can't speak for the Avs organization, but I can't see them trading a player solely on the fact that he maybe didn't get along with another player in camp, even one as important as Landeskog. If the team was really struggling? yeah maybe, blaming it on chemistry issues. But when the team is 10-1? In the words of Patrick Kane: "Meh... not good enough [of an excuse]."

But who knows, I may be be dreadfully wrong. In fact, Landy's been scoring since the trade, so yeah that's probably the whole reason it happened. :)

When the issues are with the captain though? Yes, I'd say that this was enough to warrant a trade.

I respect that, and again I can't speak for the Avs, I just can't see them moving a guy based SOLELY on that fact.

Again, I think the trade was made more for wanting to GAIN a player than MOVE one. I will concede that perhaps they thought, "we really want to get a guy like Talbot, but who can we give up for him? Parenteau? No. Johnson? No. Tanguay? No. Stastny? Not worth it right now. Downie.... hmmm, maybe. He's good, but not a foundation player... and he and Landy hate each other right now. Ok we can pull that off."

I see that as more the reason than Joe picking up the phone, calling Holmgren, and saying "I want Steve Downie off my team, who will you give me for him?" The acquisition of Talbot just seems like such a calculated move to land an attitude they really wanted.

So yes, I can perhaps concede that the alleged Landy problems may have factored into a move, but I really don't think they were the SOLE reason.

But that's just me.

Sorry for continuing to be contentious about a trade that happened last week, guys. :lol

I just really love that we landed a piece like Talbot. It's like the opposite of a Glen Sather move.
