Rumors circulating on the Island that Snow has offered 8 for 64 to Doughty.

No links, I'm just going by what my buddies have told me.

If true, I don't see how LA wouldn't match that. They have the cap space, although it's tight. The term shouldn't worry you. Maybe Garth should give a goalie a lifetime contrat....oh never mind.

I can't tell you how many hours I watched Joe Sakic growing up but I think this is the most I've ever seen him celebrate anything.

:lol I thought the same thing! I was like, "he didn't even get this excited when he won his Cups!"

Good for Joe. What a rockstar. Everyone here knows of my Foote obsession, and certainly he's the player I've attempted to model my own game after, but if you were to ask me who my favorite player of ALL TIME was, the answer comes easily. Super Joe Sakic. There have been few that have played the game with a better combination of class, dignity, determination, and downright skill.

SAKIC SUCKS! Not really. He's the only player I had respect for. I guess Drury was ok too just irritating since he was clutch.

He was a class act, but 1996 he killed the Wings. He had good years and good playoffs after that but nothing was like 96.

It's being reported Chris Osgood is to announce his retirement today. Most underrated and looked down upon goalie in this history of the NHL. 400 wins, .539 winning percentage and 3 Cup (two as a starter) and he played well enough for them to win in 09. He's got a better winning % than Grant Fuhr, Tony Espo and Cujo. And he didn't do it all with the Wings. He went to the Island and the Blues for a few years.

Very interested in the Shea Weber and Parise ones. Once Weber is addressed I'd think Doughty would be signed not to long after. You can scratch Wheeler off that list now though.

Agreed. The Kings (and Doughty) are looking for a standard to base his contract from.

I don't know if the NHL could handle that kind of talent suddenly being injected back into the league... especially if Yashin and Daigle went to Philly to play with a certain you-know-who....

Boyle was contracted for 3 more years. I really hope Sather does something with Dubinsky and Callahan before arbitration.

Looks like we are back to the Osgood only played on good teams stuff again out in the twitter world. Again not comparing the two but were any of the teams Roy won Cups with shit teams? Especially those last two with the Avs. Osgood is by no means Roy but you win with good teams. Ask Vokoun what it's like to play with crap teams.

This is the bottom line. Was Osgood helped by having the likes of Nick Lidstrom, Slava Fetisov, and Brian Rafalski on his blueline over the years? You bet. But was Patrick Roy helped by having guys like Foote, Bourque, and Blake on his? Absolutely.

Right on. Had Roy stayed in Montreal his career would have ended much sooner imo and would he be looked at the same way if his career ended badly there? He missed the playoffs in 95 and got lit up by the Wings in his last game with the Habs. Going to the Avs got him two Cups and 6 trips to the WCF's or beyond out of his 8 years there. That wouldn't happen with the Habs. Playing with that team there brought him back from the brink.

That's why hockey is such a team game. From the earliest levels, the individual is de-emphasized.

Osgood had his ups and downs over his career (just like Roy), but overall, he can look back over the last 20 years and be pretty damn proud of his accomplishments.

And dang, if you're going to retire, try to do so as a Red Wing. You'll definitely have a job after! :lol

Ken Holland is a cool dude, as much as it pains me to pay anyone in that organization a compliment. ;)
