Crosby said after the game that he is "OK," suggesting he has no significant health issues.

Cant help but think how this playoffs might have been different had we won that home and home with the islanders at the end of the season.

Holy shit the Caps have the most annoying goal horn ever. I hope they lose just because of that stupid fucking siren.

I've been thinking the same thing. Win just one of those and they are still in position to catch the Rangers. The Flyets play the Rangers in the first round and likely get bumped. What could have been...

I think how this post season is judged depends on what the Flyers do. We got our ass kicked by the Sens in the first trip to the playoffs with this guy, and they turned out to be the clear class of the East. If this happens in the ECF, which I think based on overall talent it arguably was, it's not the end of the world. You're looking at minor tweaks, rather than major changes going into next year.

Islanders and Sens both exposed some flaws in DB's system, and they weren't ever corrected. That's the big take away from those games, IMO.

I hate it when people say things like this.

Still awesome though.

"He has that look of determination."

Rattled? No

Everyone was very, very nervous at the start. I'd say it wasn't until the third goal that people started to relax a bit. It really wasn't until 10 mins left in the third period that everyone realized the game was in the bag.

Crosby was invisible today. I'll be curious to see if he sustained some injury with the malkin/giroux hits.

So what do the Pens fans think about Disco Dan? Did the team do enough to have him keep his job?

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

I don't know what to to think of Dan. What he did with the Cup team, and in every regular season has been remarkable. The 3 consecutive playoff failures, last year wasn't really on him though, are a big worry. This series felt a lot like the Montreal one, where the opponent found something that worked, and it didn't seem like there was ever a counter.

he may have coached his last game in pitt. he doesnt make any adjustments and is too stubborn to change anything. his system isnt working. they havent won a playoff series since '10, largely because db doesnt make adjustments and doesnt put his team in the best possible position to win. he is a great regular season coach, but once the playoffs start, its no good.

Wow. So glad that is over. I was really nervous about today's game. As evidenced by my post pregame.

That said. I'm in the camp of it doesn't matter how you got it done, just that you got it done. Especially against this team.

So happy to be in round 2. Get healthier in the next few days and get some help from "lesser" teams and we'll see how it goes. Not that any team next will be easy. Really want the Sens to take care of the Rangers...

Good series Pens fans. Nice to be on this side again. First time since 2000

I think Disco gets one more year. He's coached too well in the regular season with all the injuries and adversity. If everyone stays relatively healthy next year and there is another early exit, then that's it. Remember, the grass isn't always greener. Though I agree he is stubborn. It irritates me when coaches fail to adjust, taking the attitude that the system should work if the players execute. It is entirely possible the other team has exploited a weakness and you need to account for that.

Turned into a good series indeed. Good luck in the next round. Better hope Bryz holds up. Hope you and your new kid enjoy the next round.:thumbsup

Good question. I remember in 2010 the Flyers and Habs were the first 7 and 8 to play in the ECF in forever. Ironically, Chicago and whoever they played in the WCF (Vancouver?) were the 1 and 2 seeds lol.
