edit: He's a very good player and while I wish they never would have waived him they had no other options at the time. But yeah way overpaying. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
So basically Tampa is getting a 1st rounder for Downie?

edit: but have to say Wings are getting an RFA out of the deal instead of an UFA like Kubina and others would have been. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Great move by Stevie Y, if that's what it ends up being.
And like I said, if the Wings are looking long-term offensive replacement for Lidstrom, Quincey might be their guy. He will not be the all-around presence Nick was/is, but can run a decent PP. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
This too:
https://twitter.com/#!/TSNBobMcKenzi...71756817891330 Again steep price but more positives out of this than trading away a 2nd and 3rd for a guy who would most likely walk after the year. Plus he's what 27? Wings could still use some depth at forward. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
^ My thinking. He is a good skater, does well in the offensive zone at moving the puck, although I'd like to see him pass a bit more. Has a tendency to get caught out of place, and being a good skater can only get you so far if the other team gets a 2-on-1 and you as the defender are stuck down behind their net.
In all, he'd be a good replacement for Nick on the PP, and would probably be pretty effective playing with a guy like Kronwall. But you know how I get with defenders who don't know how to play defense... EDIT: But yes, his youth is what would attract me (n/h). Potential to improve playing in a structured system with one of the best coaches out there. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
And I'll always say I trust Kenny Holland. I mean how can you not. Sure there are somethings that work out and some that don't. Waiving Quincey to keep Meech was one of them but he's right probably 90% of the time. Also someone on Twitter said the players available late in round 1 aren't quite as good as in years past so we'll see I guess.

Rangers are really lucky they aren't trailing after that first period.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Is there a better PP QB in the history of the NHL than Lindstrom? Seriously. Guy just knows how to run it.

HOW IS THIS SO HARD!?
We can't even get a fucking shot. |
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
and it is things like this that make me hate Quenneville. How can this team be on an 0-for-28 PP slump?

Wow, PP actually deserved one there. Great save.
|
Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
PP doesn't deserve shit. 0-for-29. Sure it looked good, but I don't care about it "getting better" when it's 0-for-29

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I don't know why Keith and some of the other d-men are so insistent on taking a slapshot from the point. Just once I'd like to see them flick a wrist through traffic and see what happens.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Jimmy Hayes!! Fuck I needed that!

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
There's the wrist shot from the point, thank you.
