I have no idea what they have in their system either. That said the feeling I get from reading and listening is that Columbus fans are not wondering which one of them will go but rather which one will be dealt first.

He is saying all the right things about how much he loves Columbus one day but the next he is saying how he wants to play for a NY team or go back to Chicago, he has said he will not sign a long term deal with the Jackets. The problem for him is that which team would be willing to trade for him as a rental come June knowing they probably have no shot at keeping him so no one short of an NY team or Chicago will offer much of a return. Panarin himself has sort of painted himself in a corner with his statements, I doubt the Rangers make the playoffs this year and for the Hawks and Isles it is probably a coin flip so would either team be willing to deplete their system if they don't have some sort of verbal agreement on a long term contract following this season for a guy who will command probably 8+ mil a year. As far as the Hawks are concerned I am not even sure how they could swing it unless they can unload the contracts of Anisimov (rather not do that, he is great in front of the net) and Rutta (depleting the blue line even further) it is just not possible given their 5+ mil in cap space and the fact that they will have to resign both Schmaltz and DeBrincat at the end of the year and both have proven they will be making significantly more than an entry level, I think Schmaltz is due a contract somewhat like Larkin and with DeBrincat, if he plays the same as last year is is going to get a big pay day so I do not see how signing the breadman is possible long term but maybe if Crow is healthy and the Hawks are in a playoff position they could bring him in at the deadline and hope for a deep run knowing they probably won't be able to resign him. So yeah, the whole situation is all kinds of funky but surely the Jackets are not going to let him go for peanuts so who the hell knows?

There was a lot of off season talk in NY about Panarin signing with the Rangers after this season. Rangers will have the space and he would be apart of their top line. That said, I think it will come down to how the Rangers rebuild is looking this year. If they look like they are headed somewhere fast, I would not be surprised if Panarin is added to the lineup for next season.

Panarin is going to be 27 in about a month, not sure if he would be willing to wait out a rebuild - I think he wants a team that is on the cusp of a Cup.

While I don't believe the Rangers will make the playoffs this year, I don't actually think the Rangers are going to be in rebuild mode as long as people think.

I mean, who knows, but I actually think the Rangers might surprise people and be bit further along than they expect. I could see NY back in the playoffs in 2-3 years. They mostly got rid of older players and kept their young talent.

My son and I just watched the Stanley Cup presentation video together. He opened his eyes and everything to look at it. That was one of the coolest moments of my life.
