I know there can only be three, but for me it's Roy, Richards, Hitchcock, and Babs.

That was going into last year though. At least to me, going into this year they are doing what I expected. Now does that mean he shouldn't win it? No, but if the writers were thinking the same thing as me, it could hurt his chances.

Yeah I could agree with those.

It's nice to see. Wish it could have happened earlier honestly. I always thought it was a good pick for a franchise. Not a huge market, but no other pro sports and there is hockey in the area.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Yeah Kekalainen is supposed to have a great eye for young talent.

It's funny becuase the guy getting all of the credit now is Howson.

Personally I give most of the credit to John Davidson and Craig Patrick who both have come in and made wanting to play hard for this organziation far and away more important than any on-ice ability.
For the first time since I've been watching they have a group of guys with an identity and who are proud to put the sweater on which is awesome to root for.

No more Nash, Carter, Gaborik etc.

the Avs weren't even supposed to make the playoffs this year, right?

Matty probably put some voodoo magic on them or something.

Craig Berube should be considered, and I'm not even being a homer about it. He reunited that team after they lost interest in playing for Laviolette. 11 third period comeback wins is a testament to how these players never give up on him. I still think Patrick Roy is coach of the year but Berube should absolutely be a finalist.

They went from the top pick in the draft to looking good for a playoff spot. That's a huge improvement.

Yeah unless the Avs go into a huge tailspin and another team like the Wild win out, looks like it could happen.

I agree actually, there were more than a few times this year that team was in shambles. Now they look like a lock for a playoff spot and have a great chance at having home ice in the first series.

Yeah Berube I'd put on the list too, actually ahead of Hitch. Blues were good last year and have been better but again comes down to expectations and what the team has had to deal with.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Darren Helm is back tomorrow! One center down, 4 more to go. 5 if you include Abdelkader as a center, since it's his natural position, but rarely plays it here anymore.

What is the deal with the Bruins not starting Tuukka tonight against the Avs? What are they resting him for, Phoenix tomorrow night? Lol

Colorado should easily take this, Johnson is not good.

And he was fined $5,000 for it. Legwand was also fined $5k for his buttend to Malkin. Surprised he got a fine too since he got a 5 and a game but have no problem with it either.

Johnson actually hasn't been bad recently. Montreal is the big game on Monday.

BTW, for those wondering, it's "TAY-voe Terra-vine-en"

Kid is supposed to be amazing. Buddy texted me "the first time Teuvo is on the power play, I'm going to watch it standing up...because I'm going to be so hard I could balance an encyclopedia on my boner."

That said, I've watched him where and how I can, and he's VERY Kane-like. Incredible hands, undersized, vision like you wouldn't believe. He's a playmaker before a sniper. I'd love to see him center Sharp and Hossa.

He's raw, young, and small. Expectations of fans in this city are way beyond ridiculous at this point, but he does remind me a lot of the player Kane was when he was a rookie.
